Astal!
This. Although a lot of them cost a pretty penny.
There is actually.
Review of No-name S-Video/composite NTSC to HDMI@720p Video scaler unit - English Amiga Board
Buy Sega Saturn AV TV Adapter Cable (A/V Cord for Saturn) - 8.85
Donât buy Radiant Silvergun itâs coming out on XBLA in 2011.
(import) = the âResident Evilâ of Sega Saturn. This was done very well in terms of cinematics, plot, and especially music (composed by Kenji Kawai). Gameplay is pretty decent as well. Itâs got a good movie-feel to the intro which I hyperlinked for you to check out. Not too expensive to get a Japanese copy, and itâs voiced in English. Translations for text can be found on GameFAQs. Voice acting is very awful at first but I promise you it gets better. I actually played this game last night and itâs in my Top 5 for best Saturn games.
= a movie-like survival horror in outer space. If you liked âDâ then youâll like this even more. The theme to this game is that youâll never, ever see whatâs trying to kill you. It depends entirely on your ability to listen and that can get pretty creepy. Another game that manages to do well in cinematics and sound (music composed by a famous American pianist). Check out the intro. Has many references to the movie âAlienâ and ones of the animators for it was the director of the PS2 games âIcoâ and âShadow of the Colossus.â Shouldnât be too pricey.
Waku Waku 7 (import) = I think most people just download the arcade ROM for this but the Saturn port was done fairly well. This game feels ahead of itâs time and gets a bit of praise.
Galaxy Fight = supposedly better than the PS1 import that just came on PSN. I can only confirm that the sound and visuals are much better. Loading time ainât bad either. Itâs enjoyable.
Policenauts (import) = another famous Hideo Kojima game. If you liked âSnatcherâ youâll like this. The cinematics arenât as good as the PS1 version but the audio definitely is and it has some extras. Totally in Japanese.
Legend of Oasis = the âLegend of Zeldaâ of Sega Saturn. If you liked âBeyond Oasisâ on the Sega Genesis then this is for you.
Most of the better games on the Saturn have already been mentioned: Guardian Heroes, Fighters Megamix, Shining Force III, Albert Odyssey, etcâŚ
Policenauts Saturn version has the benefit of Lightgun support but itâs completely in JapaneseâŚUnless you know Japanese fluently or have been playing the hell out of the Fan Translation then i donât think youâre gonna have much fun playing a graphic adventure game thats in moon speakâŚI meanâŚit;s not like youâre just trying to stumble through a couple menus or somethingâŚThis is like trying to play Monkey Island in a language you donât even comprehendâŚ
Guardian Heroes was probably THE best beat em up ever imo. Fucking Sega and their hard to emulate shit⌠I want this ported with online play and allâŚ
I also enjoyed Robo Pit. Iâd 2nd everything else mentioned so far, and I want to 2nd Mystaria/Blazing Heroes. My bro had the game while it was called Mystaria, but I think some shit happened and the title had to be renamed so some people will have it as Blazing Heroes, still both US versions.
Ah and donât forget Shinobi Legions.
Yeah. Thatâs the downside of the system. Finding the good games cheap is basically impossible. I sold my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga when I was in a pinch about 8 years ago, and got $190 for it. So I guess itâs nice if youâre in a position where you need to sell.
Forgot about this one. But it was a really fun game. I liked it a lot at the time.
Little known fact: Legend of Oasis had a code which enabled two-player co-op. Canât reach up to that high ground? Jump on top and off of your partnerâs head to get up!
I wish I had Saturn Street Fighter Zero 3, simply because I love the game, and I love Saturn. I played the heck out of Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
Twinkle Star Sprites (import) is a puzzle/shootemup versus hybrid, and I hear itâs better than the Dreamcast version.
I am slightly salty/bitter that Radiant Silvergun is being released on Xbox360, (a superior version it seems) since I rather enjoyed owning the highly sought-after Saturn game. But Iâm also very glad that more people will be able to experience the game.
I recently picked up Bubble Symphony, from the Bubble Bobble series. I love my modded Saturn.
The Panzer Dragoon Trilogy. Great stuff all around.
Vitual on
fighters megamix
No love for the original Grandia?
I think most people would get that for PS1 or off PSN. Saturn didnât have a US release.
I would put Guardian Heroes over most of the stuff mentioned here (and a lot of people have mentioned it). Even if you somehow think the game sucks you can pop it in your CD player and BAM: youâve just invested in a bad-ass soundtrack, a Street Fighter EX-tier soundtrack.
Yea I know the feeling but I am much happier that more people get to play it then I am salty/bitter by a pretty large margin.
if only they would remade guardian heroes⌠http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/1120/guardianheroesreborn.jpg
Didnât skies of arcadia come out for saturn?
Skies of Arcadia was on Dreamcast, and later ported to Gamecube.
And since some peeps are confused (not knocking you or anything, itâs understandable): Grandia and Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (both made by Game Arts) were originally released on the Saturn, but only in Japan. The US would have to wait for the PS1 versions to play them in English. The Lunar 2 remake was only released on PS1, and Grandia II was on Dreamcast, then PS2, then PC.
As for RPGs that were stranded on the Saturn, Albert Odyssey is pretty good. Sunsoft made it, and Working Designs (same guys who localized the Lunar games) translated it, so the English script is actually comprehensible compared to other 90s RPGs, but filled with cornball humor so youâll either love it or find it groan-inducing. Itâs a really linear by-the-numbers turn-based RPG, but the graphics and music are great. Shining the Holy Arc is pretty good too, made by Sonic Software (now known as Camelot Software aka the Golden Sun guys). Itâs first-person and requires some timed button presses in combat, and Motoi Sakuraba (Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean, just about every âTales ofâ game) did the music.
UhâŚGuardian Heroes, Vampire Hunter, Vampire Savior, KOF 97, Real Bout Collection, Alpha 2 + 3, DBZ Shin Butouden, and a few others would like a word with you.
Thatâs right, isnât skies a sequel to eternal arcadia or something? I thought someone said that there was a game related to skies on saturn. Never checked it out but if itâs anything like skies was it should be awesome too.
Eternal Arcadia is JP name. There is no sequel/prequel. And fans are mad at Sega because of that.
Target Earth one of the most pimp Genesis games had a sequel only released in Japan

I never played the Saturn version, so I canât say if it is any good or not.
