What is it about Hugo that tends to give you trouble? Even though SA2 and SA3 can be used fine against Hugo, SA1 gives you meter to annoy him with EX fireballs. That, plus sitting on at least one full stock of super means he can’t afford to try jumping in or he’ll eat decent damage and get pushed a long way towards the far corner which gives you time and space to play safe and build more meter.
i dont know exactly but im under the impression sa1 is preferred against alex. vanao who exclusively uses denjin uses it against alex, and he makes that match up look 8-2. also i would imagine sa1 might be better against characters like yang/ibuki (who has a pretty easy time evading most denjin set ups), necro (since hadoken/ex hadoken is so effective against him).
sa2 is viable but sa1 or sa3 is preferred since they are more effective.

Anyways like Duralath said it depends on preference, and whichever super works best with the players style. I like to use shin shoryu, however IMO the other two are superior. ( my reasoning is because I do better with the others )

Btw we’re just joking; if alex can jab stun gun over denjin when ryu does it close i bet he can do the other versions to go and reach the back throw. I was specifically poking fun at how Louis said jab stun gun would beat denjin, and this is only true when it’s performed up close.

Shinsho is good, but c’mon. Top tier? He barely scratches high-mid at most with any of his Supers.
I like SA1 w/ Ryu. Gives me a lot of meter… Which I burn frequently… And the damage I get from EX moves compensates for the lack of using a super art. Ryu, imo, is all about putting in damage over time. EX Hado = pretty f’ing amazing at mid-range. EX-Jodan = Sex as hell… Just rarely use it outside of cancelling from c.mk or close hp.
I only use SA2 to fuck with people. It’s really situational and you can’t really combo into it against a defensive opponent often enough to warrant it as Ryu’s super of choice. It is hella scary, yes, but I’ve gotten past the point where I rely on desperation moves to turn the match in my favor.
I feel like SA3 is gay… I just do… I can’t deny that it’s amazing but it’s so gay… Even offline it’s gay… Also, I spend the entire match trying to land it when I have a full bar instead of trying to win. Kind of a distraction for me.
Even if Ryu has SA2 he’s far from top-tier… Sup with this foo’?
