I personally like NeoWave alot, but then again I post the most on the NW threads…question…is it becuase of the been there done that feel that everyone doesnt like it? (Ive visited ON.com but Im here asking FYI)
If you have a PStwo, go for a magic swap
If you have a PS2, go for a magic swap OR invest for your own sake in a triple combo : broadband adaptor+ 160Go HDD (maxtor in this case)+HDAdvance ! This way you have both the dezoning factor AND the HDD factor (reduces the loading times by a 2->12 factor)
anyway, you do want you can/prefer it’s your life
Neowave on PS2 has hella slowdown. It’s really really bad. The post seems rushed, and there is no excuse for that kind of slowdown after KOF94 Rebout was released on ps2…
How much is that gonna cost me?
…seriously.
I don’t know why there is so much hate towards KOF 94 Rebout
It’s old school, so don’t expect more
I’m personally a fan of old school fighting games (Fatal Fury Special, World Heroes 2, etc.)
it was going for 20 bucks at one time
you might be able to still score a good price on it on eBay
In fact I expected LESS, admit it : the game is ugly beyond words! I don’t get the point of doubling the resolution if it’s to have a worse game. I mean, a good old Zoom2x and Interpolate (a-la-Kreed) does better with no human work ! Damn, I prefer a hundred times the original '94 !
$150-200 depending on where you buy stuff. Maybe a bit more for 160 gigs.
I have 120 gigs and like 35 games or so on my harddrive. As you could imagine, it paid for itself pretty quickly.
How hard is it to install that shit? Basically, I’m looking for a swap-free import solution, but I have no technical ability whatsoever, and I don’t wanna have someone else install shit (crazy quirky quiche!). So far I’ve been looking at importing a Jap ps2, but if there’s a cheaper solution that doesn’t require soldering, I’d be very interested.
…seriously.
EDIT: the HD size doesn’t really mean shit to me, cause I don’t plan to store games on it…
It’s VEEEEERY easy to install. Basically, you put some water to boil, then you remove the cover of the broadband slot of your ps2, take your HD, plug it into the broadband adaptor, put the broadband adaptor in the ps2, screw tight the adpator using a small coin or whatever, put the hot water on the instant coffee, plug your ps2, put the HDadvance disk in the thing, drink coffee while following instructions…voila !
P.S. You may have to wait quite a little on your first use due to some formatting & things like that, but that’s not even necessary, depends on the hardware, the state, etc, etc.
P.P.S. You’re wrong ! the HD size means a lot to you ! What means nothing is the capacity (well, I think you need at least a 40Go for the software to be working correctly, but I’m not even sure) ! But if your 3.5in HD is too big like some nasty western digital, you’re busted !
EDIT : as for the price… well it depends, usually you need $50-75 for the HDadvance, a few bucks for the broadband adaptor and a HD… so it depends on your own knowledge of the market. 2 months ago I sold one adpator+soft for less than 60? on ebay, and I had bought it for 45?, so you see, it really depends.
Yeah, well clearly I meant the capacity and not the actualy physical size of the damn thing. So that’ll lemme play imports by just popping the disk into my PS2?
Can I get a link to where I can order that stuff?
…seriously.
Well, it’ll let you upload the game to the HD where it’ll launch normally. This being said, you can’t use it like a magic swap.
As for buying it, well, finding a broadband adaptor (not one of the first versions though) should be easy, finding a HD is up to you. As for the HDadavance… I’d rather have someone in the US answer you since :
- I had a hard time finding an e-store that would ship me one to France and not only to Asia, UK or the US and I’ve long forgot all the stores that shipped to the US… sorry man
- 1 found 2 others for friends on ebay…
Oh…I’m really just interested in something that’ll lemme play import disks without having to swap…I guess the HD isn’t for me…I’ll prolly just get a jap ps2. (does anyone know #1-if I need to get a jap mem card with a jap ps2, or can I use a US one? #2-I know they don’t come with A/C adaptors, but I can use a US A/C adaptor in a Jap Ps2, right?)
…seriously.
i heard rumblefish doesnt work with a swap disc…darn i wanted to play it to.
It’s really not that bad
unlike the arcade version, there’s actually a team edit option and you get to play as the bosses
the new BGs are admittedly horrid, but overall I think it’s not a bad a game to add to your collection if you like old school games
rumblefish doesnt work with a swapdisc but it works fine on hdloader/hdadvance.
i wouldnt get hdadvance because it’s basically a stolen version of a old hdloader with a different skin. there are never versions of hdloader out there that have way more functionality than hdadvance. that said, hdadvance is probably the best option if you’re a technical noob.
what i did instead what use the memory card exploit with a ps1 disc, then i uploaded hdloader to my memory card and went from there. i needed to use a friends ps2 to do this though (along with his gameshark.) you can read about all the different exploits at exploitstation.com or ps2hd.com
Are any of the KOFs better than Garou? I only have KOF 99 and I REALLY like that game. I’m debating on Whether to order Garou tonight or another great KOF game.
don’t forget that the arcade version is back in all its glory on the same disk
network adapter = 30
hard drive = around a dollar a gig… 120 gig = $120, 200 is like 170 or so
retail HDloader/advance = 30
i think it’s easier if you include a router also… like if you play online, then you’re already set up
i had hella games on mine, but mine got gay and randomly deleted everything… i had garou and #reload on there (among a LOT of other games) but i guess i can just redownload them.
just google ‘ps2 independence exploit’ (i’m not sure if you can post the link) or just PM me if you want the best sites for instructions and what not.
how big is the TOC (size of disc)?
I like 94 Rebout…I dont play the game really…just watch the Intro over and over and over…
Yes but quiche said it best…Tenka,NGBC, KOF XI in summer…man SNK is your best bet…
Anf The Rumblefish is a good one also…
