Why do you think Dashio is better than Poongko? Mirror matches don’t show who’s the better player with the character, it’s how you perform against various different matchups. Dashi doesn’t even attend tournaments outside of Japan, i’m pretty sure we’re talking about players who compete internationally, not just the best in Japan.
Anyone who can’t see that snakeeyez is as good or better than any other gief is simply mad because he isn’t asian AND he plays on a pad.
Just because USA isn’t entirely, or even mostly on the same level as Japan doesn’t mean that USA can’t have a character specialist who is the best in the world. I give credit where I feel credit is due. I don’t think that Marq Teddy is on the level of Japanese Guys. I don’t think that Mike Ross or Hoodaman is on the level of Japanese Hondas.
At best USA has maybe 4 character specialists who are the best AT THAT CHARACTER in the world:
PR Balrog = Best Rog
Snakeeyez = Best Gief
Ricky Ortiz or Justin Wong = Best Rufus (they go back and forth alot in my book as to who is better with Rufus. However I think Justin is a stronger PLAYER.)
Dieminion = Best Guile (he doesn’t take this on running away from the pack. There are very strong Guiles in Japan who are about as good but rarely compete outside of Japan)
That is about it IMO. Uryo is better at Sakura than ChrisG. Wao is better than Chris Hu at Oni. Poongko and Dashio are better than Online Tony. ect ect.
Tournament results are actually very subjective. The competition in the tournament and how lucky you get in the brackets, have a big impact on results.
Possibly, but the Topanga League competition is insane.
I wouldn’t say that mirror match shows Dashio is better than Poongko but Dashio IS a better player than Poongko overall. It doesn’t matter if Dashio doesn’t attend tournaments outside of Japan, since the best competition is IN Japan.
PR Rog is the only one I agree with. Cantona and other Giefs are better than Snakeyez. Ricky or Wong aren’t even the best Rufus players. I’d even say Haitani’s Rufus is better and he just recently picked up the character. There are MANY things Haitani does that Wong and Ricky need to pick up. Dieminion’s creativity, execution and reactions don’t match up with other Japanese Guiles. Just because Japanese Guile players don’t do well in tournament results doesn’t really mean much.
You gotta be a pretty big Juicebox’s fan to put him twice in the list at a time when he doesn’t even play AE anymore.
I mean, Shiro doesn’t play Abel anymore and he’s still probably better than Juicebox at using him.
amiyu the best Gen? Are you high? He hasn’t even been that active at all lately and barely attends any tourneys. Xian has been the premier (and actually pretty much only) major Gen player. He had a beast year.
I don’t think Uryo has a better Sakura than Humanbomb. He might be a better player, though not by much, but he’s really lacking in bullshit. His style is just so basic compared to Chris G, Juso and Humanbomb that I think all three of these players have a better understanding of the character by now.
I think that many people on this list is the best with their characters. But I would suggest that these players should be a consideration on the list:
Tokido: Akuma.
Sasaki: cody.
Wolfkrone: c viper.
Xian: gen.
Dogura: m.bison.
Ricky Ortis: rufus.
Ryan Hart: sagat.
Itabashi: zangief.
Banana Ken: ken (if he still plays in tournaments?).
No, I’ve seen Humanbomb dropping combos left and right. He makes execution mistakes in almost every game. Just watch last year’s Evo top 8.
As for Chuchu, I haven’t seen him enough to judge.
