GX is undoubtedly good with his team, but here’s the thing that I see when watching his Hulk. All offense begins with missiles. He either opens people up with it by hitting them out of a combo or locks people down with it and catches them with walk up low (lol?). He isn’t showing any mixups, any kara command throws. If Hulk won’t kill by himself by carrying to the corner, he Tsunamis into DHC. He doesn’t abuse the character’s tools, but rather abuses his good assist and team, which is why I don’t see him as the better Hulk player.
Hulk sent drones, different assist same thing.
That isn’t the point. Gary uses drones to cover his approach to close the gap, since no one tries to stay in Hulk’s face and he doesn’t have good mobility outside of gamma charge. If you happen to get locked down by the drones, he’ll go for left right mixups. He doesn’t just poke and then back off if he can’t get the hit, or super jump and hope to cross you up because you’re pressing buttons.
Did Fanatic drop Magneto and Storm for Knives’s team? Haha
I don’t recall GX’s game being to back off if he can’t get the hit. He sometimes goes for the low when he sees the player attempting to upback out of a command grab attempt or if they were attempting to upback when the missiles are coming down. It’s a basic frametrap but there aren’t any other options GX should be looking out for or attempting, it’s not like good players are really going to fall for Hulk’s double overhead (jump splash into another air attack) or jump splash to low mixups when they’re blocking missiles.
Well, Elvergon plays MODOK on point a lot, you know. His main set-up is MODOK on point backed up by Rocket Raccoon’s Pendulum. You really should check out his YouTube matches. He’s really impressive.
And I agree with your definition of what makes a “good” MODOK, and Elvergon fits it. He’s easily the most practically successful MODOK I’ve ever seen. His playstyle is centered around GETTING THE WIN and “dealing with bullshit,” like you say. He’s not a guy to try to get in to perform crazy cube combos (although he can do that, too); like I mentioned in the MODOK forums, he actually takes advantage of MODOK’s zoning tools, which is what really makes him a threat, in my opinion. He’s also the first MODOK player that I’ve known of to win a tournament against pro opponents. Okay, it was not a major, but that still works in my book.
This, pretty much.
Press H at every opportunity + call drones > gamma charge > mixup. It’s just that the interval between calling hidden missiles is a lot longer than drones, and missiles do not provide horizontal ground coverage. That is why you don’t see GX going in as constantly as Gary does.
I second the vote for Best Nemesis and Hulk for Airtola, Chris G for best Morrigan?
Best lame Morrigan. I’ll give him that.
Perhaps
what about Combofiend for best Spencer? or is he no longer…?
Knives is the best Spencer imo. Combfiend’s Spencer is good, but the reason everyone keeps going to him is because he put Spencer on the map.
Best Zangiefs SSF4 AE: 1.) Cantona 2.) Snake Eyes 3.) Zangitan 4.) Itabashi 5.) Vangief
dont hate on hulk low short <3
I still say Combofiend has the best Spencer, as Combofiend still makes the occasional comeback with him, whereas Knives always has (needs?) the drones or tatsu assist to back his. And because Combofiend made Spencer, Lol.
That’s because Combofiend ends up with Spencer on anchor much more often than Knives.
True… I thought of that while I was typing haha. But really They both use Spencer differently, on point and as an assist respectivey… I guess people probably based their choice off the NCR where Knives beat Combofiend (I was p!$$ed haha)
I still think Knives would get more mileage out of Spencer’s diagonal grapple. Can actually combo into HSF with it and use it to shut down more angles while zoning with Sentinel.
Best Nova is Infrit, this is not negotiable or debatable in any form whatsoever
I’m the best Dante AND Zero[details=Spoiler]in canada[/details]
Desk on everyone. Just be happy he doesn’t compete
Making combo videos =! playing competitively
