Elverg0n and royalflush easily have the best results with modok. Pigg has a great modok too but doesn’t go to tournaments (could be wrong) but he was tearing shit up on fanatics stream . I agree with figure and give elverg0n the edge here

I’m not sure how he discovered this team but he’s been loyal to it since the beginning of vanilla, regardless of the tiers.

All his characters have command grabs, ground or air (though Tron’s rarely gets any use). He seems to feel really strongly about grabs in this game. I’m not sure exactly where Tron comes into the pictures…I mean she works really well with the team but it isn’t because of grabs or anything, I’m not sure what specific qualities he was looking for that lead him to Tron and not any other point char.

I actually spoke to Tenboss (he posted in my channel), maybe I can ask him some questions about ABEGEN…

The funny thing is, Haggar works so well with Thor its kind of scary. Makes you wonder why he didn’t pick up the mayor.

Does Thor’s beam assist work similar to Doctor Strange’s in that it can be crouched under by smaller characters? That would lead to some intimidating command grab set ups against those who don’t know the match up well. Seems like tech that Abe would exploit the hell out of if it worked.

Bleh, watching ABEGEN almost makes me want to pick up Strange due to the similarities in the assists (I HATE SENTINEL I HATE SENTINEL I HATE SENTINEL).

Also as far as why he picked up Tron I would bet you he saw the Beacon Bomb tech with She-Hulk’s anti-air grab in Vanilla and decided he had to try this.

You don’t need to see him play a big name player to appreciate what an excellent command of MODOK’s tools he has. He faces very pro opponents in his YouTube videos, too. His sparring partners are clearly players that know what they’re doing. Hell, he often plays Jan, the famous Guilty Gear player, who is pretty damn good at UMVC3.

I agree, I do think that Elvergon has a better MODOK than RoyalFlush and MoTempest.

And you really fought other MODOKs that were as good as Elvergon? Wow. I have encountered many pro MODOK players online myself, but none as insane as Elvergon.

Knowing what you’re doing is one thing, but to know what you’re doing against equally excellent competition is another. Not that I expect MODOK to wreck shop vs an equally excellent player who plays a higher tiered character well but seeing what he can do with the tools he’s mastered in that situation is what it’s about. Case in point, I’ve heard people praise my MODOK and call it better than some named MODOK players but it’s a difference in play style I believe. Being a point MODOK player probably has a factor in it as well. Not that MODOK is better on point, I’m just saying sometimes watching Royal or Elvergon I don’t get to see much MODOK because he’s in the back a lot. Being a team game it’s hard to see where the difference lies really without watching LOTS of matches. I’d love to see more of his matches where MODOK gets more screentime is all.

If he plays online I’d love to invite him to a lobby one day just too see how he deals with other peoples BS that I play.

It’s all in how they deal with the bullshit that is UMVC3. Just saying big named players are big names for a reason generally. Its a measuring stick, if the best MODOK just gets bodied…then…you might as well be the best…Hsien Ko and the whole lot of us are sad

(In other words I have to get off my lazy ass and watch more MODOK play from tourney players. I’m a go to the tourney, then play in casual after the tourney player lol) What’s a pro Dok player anyway? A tournament MODOK? I have a friend who plays him and wipes the floor with me that NEVER goes to tournaments and I’ve been told that offline I’m hella solid.

It’s not impossible hell, look at BUM who noone outside on NY knew about until he started streaming shit. (and still doesn’t go to tourneys…) We just have such a small sample of DOK play in the community exposed imo. Out of tournament MODOKS that’s all of what…3? 4? DOKS we actually have footage of?
