I think it’s totally 100% alright, to choose not to use them, but if you complain about them or even just call them cheap, I think that’s pretty sad.
Reign doesn’t use them when he plays, which is fine, because we all try to get an angle and our own style of play, to see what works. 90% of players expect Blanka to utilize his throw, so it’s a good tactic to avoid using it and throw them off.
I’m a bit bitter when it comes to Reign though, because he came to STRESS_FACTOR’s defense in a chatroom and helped him preach to me about how my throws were cheap. I won some dinky little meaningless tourney with Vega, who of course is a great thrower because of his walk-speed and decent throw-range.
So with that said, I find it hard to respect players who are outspoken about so-called “cheap” tactics. I think it’s legitimate to call things cheap if they’re officially banned in internationally-recognized tournaments (like Gouki/Akuma), but outside of that, you’re really going against the grain of sensible “Play to Win” thought.
I think you were more than just bitter. There are several threads with posts you made and mentioned me several times about my opinion. I think that is really sad that my opinion got to you so much.
I’ll just say this one last thing: I have not complained about ticks in a long time. I have accepted the fact that they are a part of the game, and from that I feel I have gotten a lot better. I have been trying to incorporate ticking into my game lately, but I still don’t like doing it.
To Kendrick, I don’t want your respect. Hell, I don’t care what you say or think about me, I just want this to stop. This is supposed to be the best of thread, yet you’ve highjacked it to talk shit about me. Stop this foolishness.
It’s heartwarming that Reign has seen the error of his ways, as of this morning. Last night he was still rigorously defending his calling tick-throws cheap.
He has now begun the journey to becoming a better player and I applaud that. So I recommend putting him down as a Rising Star, for Best Blanka.

I just want to say quickly GGs to the this thread in the past few days!!! Very entertaining! So many plots and twists! More so than the HDR GG thread, seeing how everyone is here for the time being. PSN…We know drama!!!

The man can play it well enough. Can he reverse tick attempts? Yes he can. Will he do it? He damn sure will. Will he do them himself? Not so much. But if he doesn’t want to do them then that’s his choice…he can win well enough without them. If he starts losing without use of tick throw mixups in his game, then that’s his problem and we’ll let him deal with it. But until then…just play the game!
