See, that’s a misconception that screws S Groove up and leads to scrubbery like trying to whore Level 1 supers.
First of all, in what Groove can you abuse Level 1 supers, outside of S Groove? Like, use repeatedly, and get consistent, wonderful, damaging results? The answer is no other Groove. So then, S Groove must give Level 1’s special properties to make them better? No, it does not. Just because you have access to X amount of Level 1 supers, it means squat. On the whole, Level 1’s suck ass, period. A very few that don’t are the ones I listed before in earlier posts, and things like King’s and Rugal’s kick supers that are pretty decent and projectile supers that can easily be comboed off of useful normals (Ryu’s c.mk XX super fireball).
In S Groove, you should rely on your super the LEAST. You should be willing to play without supers at all. Because getting supers in S Groove is user controlled and optional, until you get beaten down. And you’re almost dying and you’re thinking that perhaps an endless supply of the lowest priority super in the game will help that much? Unless you’re Todo or Terry, chances are no. or Peachy playing Athena. whatever.
At the same time, because you have so little access to supers, it’s important to choose them carefully. It’s a really paradoxical situation. Rely on it the least, but pick out the best fucking one you can.
S Groove is just like P and K. Without easy, free damage and without Roll and RC, you’ve got to be really fine tuned with your characters individually, because you don’t shit for free like C, A, and N Groove do.
