Best gaming TV?

Im thinking of going with a new tv and im looking for some opinions. Right now im using a sony 50" lcd. Its a great tv but im tired of having to buy new backlight lamps every 8-10 months. This tv will get extreme use so i dont want a backlight tv. Ive heard LED tvs havent been developed enough for good gaming so anyway give some suggestions. Price range is under $2000.

The best suggestion I would give you is to buy a old CRT TV. These are the most recommended gaming TVs, especially for fighting games, but if you want something that is about the same size as your 50", I’ll have to dig up some stuff for you to look at.

thanks for the suggestion…any certain brand you have mind??? I havent really done any research yet, i kinda wanted to get some real opinions from people other than reading cnets top ten or something. As far as the size goes i really dont want to go under 42".

For fighting games at least, CRT…

As for brands, in my own opinion, I would chose Sony for TVs that are at least 42". It’s the brand me and my family stuck with since the 90’s (Besides not owning a PS3 Laugh). I’m am pretty sure that their are lag-free LED/HD TVs from Sony, but the best bet is to go to a local electronics department, and as one of the sales clerk if you can try out some of the TVs and see if they lag or not with your own console. Most of the time they don’t really mind.

To test out the lag, I’d suggest to bring your console of choice and either a fighting game or rhythm game of your choice to test out the lag.

I hope this helps a bit more.

We have a samsung 40" m87 lcd as a main TV, but the only game i play on it is hd remix (it the only next gen game i play !!!)

would you say its better to play it on crt ?? because it is HD afterall so shouldnt it go with a hdtv???

all my other street fighter games from ps2, xbox 1 and snes look crap on the hdtv, and since my old goodmans 22" crapped out on me, i recently bought a 32" sony trinitron CRT and it is excellent fo these games,

so imo use hdtv for hd games like sf2hd remix and if there any other good next gen games out,

but your main TV should be a CRT if your like me and still play street fighter games from ps1, ps2 and snes and xbox1 (well theres only 1 game on xbox1 thats the PAL 3rd strike on anniversary collection).

If you’re getting a big-screen lcd, i would recommend strongly against sonys and samsungs. If you go to the store and see them all lined up showing the same image, it’ll be easier to see which ones are laggier than others. Take a iiDX player with you if you know one. In my experience, toshiba’s and lg’s have had good performance and a nice picture.

Evo used Asus monitors, which give an absolutely beautiful picture, and they are much less than 2 grand, but don’t come larger than 27" (i think).

Ugh i think i screwed up my last post. anyways thanks for the suggestions. Im kind of partial to sonys cuz ive never had any problems out of em. Right now im using a 50" sony lcd it works great but the lamp situtation sux. I really dont want to drop below 42" and im going to be using it for all types of games [cept sports]. This tv will see around 15 hours a day usage, so i need something that wont break down on me. Ive had bad times with LG tvs so those are out. Ive heard crts but can i get a model and make # so i can look into it some more. Again thanks for all the replys/ screwed up post twice now…WOORRRK
