Hey guys! So, I’ve been rocking Wolverine/Spiderman/Felicia for a while, and I want to swap out Wolvie for someone else. I want to use Spidey on point, and wolverine’s assists don’t really help Spiderman at all. I’d like some characters, and please someone other than Doom, who’s assists can really help me get those stylish multi-web throw combos.
Felicia has to stay, I’ve used her since Vanilla and I’m a character loyalist for sure. Plus, my current combo uses her OTG assist Sand Splash to get one last Web Throw in to super.
So yea, that’s my question. Hope you guys can help because I can’t decide. Thanks in advance, take care!
I ask this with all people who ask. What is your style play style and what’s your execution like? There are strong damaging combos without web throw loops like with Doom
Holy crap xero? If you’re xero18 you’re the reason I stuck with Spiderman when I was about to give up!
And my playstyle is very rushdown with both Spiderman and Felicia. And my execution? Once I learn a combo, my brain locks it and I don’t really forget/drop them, so I guess good.
Your team’s going to be very much similar to Spidey/X/Wesker which means that your second character has to provide a decent neutral for Spidey as well as being able to hold well without a strong neutral assist.
Here are some options you can think about in no particular order:
Dorm - close team to what Brightside used to get 2nd at UFGT. Not the strongest neutral assist with black hole but has safe tags, decent DHC after MS and can hold well on his own.
Tasky - close to DJHoushen’s team with Spidey instead of Skrull. He comes with a decent neutral assist with arrows, can solo well, safe and good DHC and can use sand splash for shield skill + sting master combo ender.
Zero - closest I can think of is KillerKai’s but with Zero and Spidey instead of Task. Zero has sick solo neutral plus safe and decent DHC but has limited assists to offer. Hadangeki may be able to help your neutral rush down but it has horrible durability and wouldn’t be much help unless powered up with Sougenmu. Ryuuenjin is a very good defensive tool and can be converted off by web throws but may not be inclined to your rush down play style. Can’t say much about his Shippuga assist though.
Dante - watch Otavio and you’ll see how to combo using Spidey with him. You won’t need sand splash so you’re going with rolling buckler for Dante neutral and unblockables. Very decent solo, has safe tag but requires raw tag to extend Spidey’s combo. Can’t remember (Damian, I think) who uses Dante+Felicia but I think you won’t have problems looking for info on that duo.
Vajra is good but Spidey > Felicia DHC is horrible.
I’ll comment again once I’ve explored these characters more today, but I will say one thing.

That’s not right at all I used to play Spidey second, and Felicia last, so I had to DHC a lot between them. After an MS, do a Kitty Helper, dash forward and catch them on the downfall with a standing S, jump up to M, M, H, Delta Kick and there’s a Felicia combo
You either did a raw MS or a short combo with Spidey to be able to do that. If you did extended zip OTG combos before you finish with MS your opponent would flip, especially if you used the sting ground bounce. The sting bounce would also remove your chance to extend with delta kick. So yeah, not looking good.
Best thing you could probably do is to launch then sj:s: so you get the hard knockdown and a set up. Felicia’s got very good oki with kitty helper. Not the best way to spend meter, but at least you get a 50/50.
That’s true but you don’t really have much of a choice anyway. If the opponent had only 150k left after MS, it could easily be over with a decent DHC but because of poor DHC synergy, you’re forced to do a reset to kill which is risky if the other team has the ability to kill you off with 1 hit. Alternatively, you can remove the risk at the cost of spending extra meter for sand splash xx super which isn’t really efficient. If only Felicia has sand splash super like in MvC2, it’d be a different story but no.
Now I don’t post here often but I figure since he hasn’t been mentioned… Shuma Gorath. Mystic Ray is a great assist for Spidey. It lets him do web throw combos I could teach my grandmother to do, plus it’s a pretty decent neutral assist (unless you opponent is using someone with a fast projectile like Mags or Hawkeye). The DHC from Maximum Spider into Hyper Mystic Ray or Hyper Mystic Smash works great to since those hypers hit OTG. Heck even going from MS into Chaos Dimension is plenty doable. Granted this comes with the downside of having to use Shuma, who is by no means an easy character to use.
There actually was a point in time when I was running a Spidey, Shuma, Felicia team. I got a lot of comments about how unusual and interesting the team was. Unfortunately that didn’t translate into very many wins, as the Shuma/Felicia duo doesn’t have much going for it.
Web throw into MS does a point or two less than doing web throw to corner CA. From there you can DHC like normal in the type situation you are referring to. The only thing I can’t think of is a strong assist for the wake up 50/50 that will limit forward roll techs to make the team stronger. Once you get that reset started with her she should be killing a character to get ready for the incoming one and I’ve seen some interesting incoming setups with her
Well after playing with a lot of the people mentioned on here in my second slot, I think I settled on Sentinel. His drones are a great way for me to get in, and I think I can make a web throw combo or two involving throw into drones, throw.
The only problem is there seems to be zero DHC ability between MS and Sentinel. My entire team seems to lack in that department.
Spidey Felicia Sentinel would Ve the stronger team because of unblockable setups after MS but to DHC properly you want Spidey to end combos in crawler assault very similar to iron man
By web throw combos, do you mean ending with web throws or just have web throws in them? For those with web throws in them, just end with sting xx CA but you have to make sure that you end near the corner so that the opponent won’t drop in the middle of CA or just OTG assist to CA. For those ending with web throw to CA, the most effective way to get the set up is with wall bounce assists, repulsor and missiles. Other methods require midscreens, kara stings and some specific stuff to get down.
My current combo is pretty much, L M H Web Throw L, jump dash zip, air S, L M H Web Throw M, jump dash zip, air S, L M S, s. jump, M M H S, Sand Splash assist, Web Throw xx MS.
So… the same thing but instead change the last web throw to just a straight up CA? Sounds easy enough.
i don’t have that much experience with his different variations. but from the ones i do, it seems like web throw into maximum spider does about the same as crawler assault after the scaling.
The easiest way to remember it is this. If your combo ends in web throw MS just do Crawler Assault at the point where you would do that web throw. With the combo you posted you would do crawler assault the same time that Felicia hits with sand splash
Aaaaand just like that no more Sentinel. Even his longest combos just aren’t stylish enough for my liking, so I’m not liking him. I actually picked up Doom and was surprised to find just how easy his combos are. I was told they were hard, but the character really clicked with me.
Anyone know how to use his missiles in a spidey combo though? I’m having a lot of trouble.
