"BEST BIPSON!" - Dictator Match-Ups

The front page has been needing updating for a long time. Imo the biggest problem Bison has with that matchup is elbow drops.

Trying to fit more but it doesn’t let me. I have a txt file with updated changes you guys have posted over the past two months. Going to reformat some of the stuff for the OP links. Or I"m just going to push up a new thread over the next week AE2012 releases and just refresh it.

The forum software shift glitched some stuff or the character limit per post was lowered in the transition.

Why not go with a main thread that has various general information that links to character specific threads and other important threads? These giant threads are terrible for in-depth match up discussion, and the less played match ups receive little attention. Character specific threads keep discussions focused, and help to mitigate questions being asked often. (Like “How do I stop a jump back Ryu?”) Forum threads that are fairly complete would eventually scroll off, and match ups receiving new attention (like Guy here) would be at the top.

does anyone have any advice for the oni matchup?

-i am not sure if oni has too 4 frames invincibility on SRK startup (if he does have, dont use PC crossup on his wake up, autocorrected SRK ftw, better use DR if he is far from you or HK SK), but dont use PC crossup on his wake up if he has ultra ready, autocorrected full animation metsu hado is pain in the ass…
-on the other side, you can bait his ultra with devil reverse into ultra2, if you time DR correctly and he is on chip, its 90% chance that hes gonna mash ultra 1 on wakeup.
-play more footsies with him, use headstomp on charged fireballs, teleports on his crossup slash help too, if you get the timing you can use it in you favor
-most of the time, try to bait him, drop combos on purpose to see if he mashes SRK like crazy or is patient, and
-ultra, is about your personal preferences… if you feel like you could bait him with U2 go with it, but its really hard to land against better players, they know why u pick u2

Do you have any ideas, how to punish guys elbow drop or some good strategy? I play against my friend- Guy is his main and its really hard to do anything once you are in corner, it has so fucking big hitbox and exec frames, it resets even ex PC to get out of corner. I tried to punish it with FA, but ts really hard to time it right before his cr. LK comes out…

Ok Im fucking through, Bison versus Ryu is so fucking broken 10 - 0 match up its not funny anymore gg Im out.

i don’t feel like ryu has a significant advantage over bison. I never lose to a player worse than me because they are using ryu. what am i missing?

You’re not missing anything. Ryu isn’t that bad of a matchup. I always felt Ryu had a slight advantage, but west coast/socal @wednesday night fights thinks Bison has the advantage, at least in AE, and they’re much better players.

I’m splitting up matchups into a handful of threads. I have more space to put up stuff now. some of the OP posts locked me out from editing more from the forum software transition. I will back track some more recent stuff for a lot of the match ups, but most of the updates will rely on some good thinking and posting.

Let the AE2012 tears begin for the rest of the roster.

Do you guys find a cross up J.HK kinda hard to land on some characters or is it just perfecting the spacing judgement? I think I had the most trouble with Guile and Chun recently, while against other characters I could do with my eyes closed.

yep, some characters have weird hitboxes, you must land j HK crossup really soon otherwise you will miss.

Ultra 1 > Rose Soul Satellite + Soul throw gross. Usually auto corrects.

well dear fellow bisons, I figure out that good AA against Guy’s elbow drop is close st. HP or far st. hp (close has easier timing) depends on your timing, everything else is traded/you get hit, you can use FA too but its really hard to release it before he lands another hit and its dangerous because you can be easily ultra’d. Wakeup elbow drop if you dont have ultra meter, and you are in corner, well youre fucked.

Yeah I feel like Guy is getting to be a nuisance for my Bison. I’ll try out st. HP but I wish I had an answer for elbow drop while crouching so I don’t get thrown for 200 dmg. Maybe cr. mp…

I tried to find similar technique as evading cviper air burnkick with ryu cr.MK, but unfortunately bison does not have lower animation than all crouch moves, and cr.HP is too slow to AA elbow drop, and on wakeup totally useless, maybe wakeup backdash could evade it.

The best bet is close HP, but he can still trick you and do crossup instead, or try to punish it with FA.

So. How do I deal with Gouken’s new bullshit?

I don’t understand what you’re getting at here. Bison beats characters with invincible reversals by baiting them and punishing them like a lot of characters. If they poke st.mk on reaction then they are pretty sick, but that is very difficult to react to and if they’re actively waiting to punish your pokes you can capitalise on this by things like dash up throws.

Easy mashable reversals are annoying in this game for characters like Bison to deal with, but you need to keep players honest by punishing them bigtime for mashing. With that in mind, some players cannot be conditioned and will mash DPs all the time. You need to identify these players and stick with the same game plan rather than changing it based off conditioning them.

troll time? I have not touch the game for about month, keep replay my game in head, in computer whenever I got time, still try to crack the nut shell of bison anti air.

How can you tell when Bison have obvious advantage? my opinion is

1)any THROW, back or forward.
2)Slide knock down
3)Corner, or lock down.
4)Any ex cancel, 3 bar might be a waste?

BTW I don’t feel scissor knock down is that good, after serious thought, I rather they block and eat my footsie damage, maybe I don’t know the the wake up game when scissor knock down…and footsie too, I don’t like trade either but if I have to I trade for spacing if I know what is coming.

what is good with empty slide? I see some good player did that throw+slide thing, for timing? or for push?

slide, EX cancel focus like 0.5 sec, and j.mp xx (Neurosis did it against someone at corner, for GDLK read and j.mpxx into U1)
or throw, cr.mk then jump (cross up at left corner, but is NOT at right corner) is that character specific?

okay i answer:

When you have ultra, it’s very dangerous to jump against you. People don’t like FA level 3 too. So, if you charge FA like level 3 but dash cancel it before, you can punish back jump of player 2 with jump mp mp ultra. It’s a very good trap but every good player knows that and so don’t jump.

i search an OS fadc for slide: if you do a slide in close range, you have time to see if it’s knock down or guard, fadc in reaction to be safe if it’s guard.

throw, cr mk, jump: safe jump against +4 reversal (cammy, feilong, sagat…)
