I don’t know what I think about the Dudley matchup. I actually think Dudley has an advantage if he picks rolling thunder against bison… It’s a free ultra if he blocks ex pc…
so how do we beat honda now that he has a bs safe invincible lp headbutt?
What shortcut motion again?
For Honda, I try to grab a quick lead and force him to come to me, otherwise, it’s an uphill battle it seems. Honda has all the defensive tools to keep me out. The lp headbutt is really annoying.
Anyone have advice on the T.Hawk matchup?
T.hawk’s condor dives are free damage on block. You just treat him like Zangief with no lariat. Only thing to look out for is whiff condor dives into Typhoons because they hurt. And I’m not sure if his DP has invincibility. Jumping at him is somewhat foolish because his typhoon has amazing range.
Haven’t experienced rolling thunder from Dudley yet. But he still has a lot of glaring problems getting in on people and I’m not too worried about them punishing EX-PC.
actually i just tried to imitate that motion (you can see it in the input display) in training mode today. just recorded ryu firing off some fireballs at random and tried to ultra them full screen. the shortcut motion is boss, im going to use it in all situations now because of how easy it is and how badly i suck at double qcf.
im not 100 percent sure what the official shortcut is, but what i used in training mode earlier is just mashing:d::df: because you avoid the teabagging motion that makes it obvious. just looks like youre sitting on charge. then when I see the fireball, I just move the stick to :uf:, hitting three kicks on the way. i guide the stick along the gate and just push up, i’ve practiced it for like 15 minutes and it works every time. when i tried doing it like in the vid and hitting three kicks along with forward, sometimes i would get teleport, so i tried exaggerating the motion by going up forward and i got it 100 percent of the time.
also i tried doing this after hell attack, after landing the second punch i just mashed down to down forward and then hit up forward plus three kicks as soon as i hit the ground and i never mistimed or got a teleport. there were a few times in matches when i got the hell attack but hit ultra too late because i was being a little too slow in my input, so im definitely going to use this in all situations. you can also just do down to down forward twice and then up plus three kicks when you dont need to buffer. i think it’ll help me especially since i can go from down back and just slide along the gate to get the first d-df out quickly since i had trouble going from down back to doing a regular qcf motion.
try it out.
Guy has some fun glitch where he can be thrown during hit stuns in his crouching position. Not that we have any projectiles to test that, but get creative guys!!
Wow I just started practicing stuff vs e honda…capcom didn’t nerf his HB damage at all?!! lol wow. 130 and 160 dmg safe reversals ftw. Someone is really going to jump up on the tier ladder. Also I’ve never understood why regular butt stomp had invincibility.Seems to be a bit much.
Probably was obvious but you can ops ultra 2 if he whiffs a buttstomp or any headbutt vs a jump in, guess i gotta start practicing that!
I will definately, I’m hitting teleport way too often.
i am able to stop every one of Rogs rush punches with sFP (not close one) much easier in SSFIV
EX-PC is still very punishable if not performed properly and Dudley has some pretty harsh punishes with meter.
any info on the Guy matchup? BNB combos that work on the rest of the cast doesn’t work against Guy and it seems to whiff when i connect a combo on him.
it seems like he gets to jump in on bison for free since st. HK’s whiffs when u try to knock Guy out of the air because of its’ hitbox.
and when he does the air roll + elbow thing, I always try to knock him out the air with a st. HK or i try to jump out and avoid but i get air powerbombed.
The non-charge combo that i’m used to do when i missed my charge or just to space the other player to be out of danger without knocking him down is the st.LK > st.HK. I usually use it in this situation:
- crossover MK > cr. LP > st. LP > st. LK > st. HK
The damage is decent, the reset is fast so you can mind trick into anything you want and like you said, no need to charge!
PS: I noticed that a lot of of players online will attempt to do somthing right after the st. HK so most of the time i can hit an other st. Hk or st. MK to punish.
I noticed that when T. Hawk likes to dive a lot, it’s double air MP time. Then, he will probably quit the air diving and it’s gonna be a Zangief’s like st.HK matchup… whitout the lariat. Just dont jump too much… you will get caught by his shoryuken thing.
I started treating him like Gief and it was instant win. I came across this one hawk who once took the lead, just hit d/b in the corner. It was really annoying as soon as I got close, it was either jump back, or condor spire, in which my s.MK or s.HK would be useless.
When he’s cornered can you mind game him with headstomps and devilreverses if he keep jumping back? Also I didnt realise if headstomp beats T Hawk shoryuken clear. I wouldnt be surprised if it does though lol… Headstomps are so good.
T. Hawk can be safe-jumped using the j.fierce shoto safe-jump (the one that makes DPs whiff, not the one zeno posted about in the thread ‘safe jumping shotos’). It makes all versions of T. Hawk’s DP’s whiff, it beats all reverse DP’s, and it beats all 360’s (even EX!).
Annnnnnd that concludes my knowledge of the T. Hawk matchup. ahah.
Against T.Hawk I just block his hawk dives and punish with a roundhouse scissor kick. Works very well.
Against Hakan do not try a cross up psycho crusher after a scissor kick if he has ultra 2 charged up. It will hit you.
I tried this in my first Rog matchup tonite … stuffed his first 3-4 rush punches clean. Deep, too … I was surprised they weren’t trades. It was a beautiful thing. I could tell he was mindfucked, like he’d never seen that happen before.
Then couldn’t do it again for the rest of the night. :crybaby:
My hardest match up is definitely against rog. Learning rh against rush punches would be really good for me. Sometimes I find myself playing a guessing game with his rushing punches, and when i do that i lose badly.
Hondas another hard matchup for me. Can bison punish that buttslam move? maybe like focus second hit and combo? and his j. fp kills my st. rh aa. maybe cr. hp to aa? I really dont have a gameplan yet against rog and honda.
I actually play the guile matchup pretty decent atm. I just stick to him like glue and stuff sb with st mk. psychic psycho punisher helps too.
A bad habit i used to have is doing short scissor kick outside of most char footsie range but getting hit by chun and rog sweep and vegas cr. mp to ex wall dive. I’m better at not doing that now.
Another thing I’m doing is upping my aggression way up. I used to be aggressive but wary of dps. Now I kind of invite them to dp me so I can kind of find a pattern of when they dp (better to find out before they have 2 bars and ultra). When I’m aggressive I can kind of feel when a wakeup dp is coming. When I’m wary of them they kind of feel random.
