Didn’t know that bit, interesting.
I got two meterless solutions for getting cornered: 1. Block and find an opportunity to punish and knock them down to get out, 2. Read #1.
Yeah, just dont mash during block strings and beware of frame traps. Just weather the attacks and find your opening, be patient. Good players really fck you up for mashing grab during block strings.
Something interesting I ran into last night. Honda can be thrown out of his U2 lol. Seriously I had the Simpsons “Ha ha!” sound going off in my head when that happened.
Honda’s U2 is instant, like gief’s. Maybe you were in blockstun?
Maybe either way it was hilarious. I can’t remember what happened right before that so its certainly possible. The honda player was going wtf over the mic, made my night lol.
I can back up Stab’s statement, I threw my friend who used Honda Uc2 on me as well. There’s some weird properties with the grab Ultra. Perhaps the frame data is wrong or the range is shorter than it really is.
Certainly possible the frame data is wrong, but it’s certainly instant.

His throw range is around his foot. My guess is that either you guys were out of range or in block stun, and your throw got him in recovery.
I was fucking with random shit in training mode, and I found that Bison’s teleport AND backdash can be punished by OS sweep. I built the OS into the hit-confirm c.jab xx c.short. So, c.jab xx c.rh ~ c.short.
New anti-Shervin strategy, yo.
if bison teleports in the mirror match all you usually have to do is take a small step forward and roundhouse, it will usually tag bison on his tele recovery.
Honda’s ultra 2 is slow like 5 frames or more and the range is ass. Ibuki,Gief and T hawk grabs are the only on that are instant from what I know
I heard Jwong state Bison beats rufus in the air? is that true and if so hows the spacing?
As long as rufus doesn’t instantly attack when he jumps (j.HK) you can beat out whatever he does with jump HK, HP or MP. You have to be closer for MP and I notice HP works very well when the jump is spaced out far. Jump back HK works wonders, like it does on everyone though lol
:amazed:
well see about that
Honda, Thawk, Hakan and Zang’s ultras are instant.
Ibuki, Guy, Balrog’s are not.
E. Honda: After a throw or in any “safe” crossup situation you can OS your crossup with sweep and beat LP Headbutt, go under Buttslam, and chase EX Headbutt. Aftering chasing the EX Headbutt you can c.LK, if Honda pushes a button he’ll get hit.
Rufus: After reseting Rufus out of a divekick LP Psycho for a crossup! Works on Cammy too. This actually work if you anti-air ANYONE with s.LK, timing varies.
^^ Can Rufus block and punish with U2?
I was reading in the seth thread that a lp SPD can punish scissor kicks on block…that’s all it said so I don’t know if it meant roundhouse or forward scissors or short scissors. I’ve had Gief do that to me in the past when I was dumb enough to go for another cr.short and I’m assuming if the scissor kicks hit close up it’s totally possible if i just sit there, but like the discussion on grappler ultras, can’t I just backdash or jump?
As far as I’m aware, at point blank range if we’re at neutral frames, I back dash and the opponent does an SPD, aren’t I in the clear and for a punish no less? Is there something special about Seth’s jab SPD that I don’t know about or was the player who contributed this information just assuming based on experience?
P.S. That’s a really nice OS Alvien, thanks. I’m incorporating OS into my game and it’s seriously winning me matches. OS standing roundhouse > Chun and Viper…I always knew they were good and useful but never so essential to these matchups. Chun’s meaty pressure get out of jail free card, Viper using EX Seizmo to SJC to escape by abusing the strict punish window on it…so annoying before OS. Bison’s version is a good reward for reading the player right because if you guess wrong you’ll eat a reversal even on safe jump. Pre-conditioning is so important so that you can limit the basic jump in reversals like EX SBK and Fierce TK. Then OSing becomes more of an educated guess.
Probably, but I haven’t tested it.
If the 2nd hit of lk. scissors connects (regardless if the 1st hit misses), it is completely safe. You may be in range for spd, but that doesn’t mean it’s a guaranteed punish, because you can always jump, teleport, backdash, or invincible reversal.
If you continue reading that Seth thread, they go on to say that spd will whiff if scissors is spaced properly.
