Best bet for the best fighting game console?

I would like to see real evidence that the PS2 is a fading system. Where is the indication that this system doesn’t have years left in its lifespan?

After May 07, it’s got no games coming out. But there are enough great games coming out from now until February to last for a couple more years.

I would say Wii since its basically just one big emulation console. Plus, its hella cheap to develop for, so it’s gonna cater to the 2D market that take more resources on drawing the sprites than it does modeling it.

Dude. The Wii has no fighting games being developed for, ported to, or planned for it, outside of Smash.

I’m alright with fighting games being on the Wii as long they use the classic controller and not the wii remote.

I have no idea what the status of Sony’s PS3->PS2 backward compatability will be. The difference in processor architecture means that it will be software/emulation based if it is, and quite frankly I can smell another XBox360->Xbox fiasco. Again, I wouldn’t go betting the house on anything until you see it in the flesh for yourself. Kutaragi is a funny bloke, and I don’t trust him as far as I can dropkick him. I’ll let the hardware speak for itself on arrival. Until then, my PS2 and Dreamcast treat me very well.

Nope no Xbox360 fiasco, completely hardware-based backwards compatibility (from Sony’s Gamer-Day conference). Sony included a ps2 chipset in the ps3. Unfortunately, it has been implied there’s no smoothing, anti-aliasing, or other enhancements like the ps2 did for ps1 games though

I own CvS2 on the Cube. You should hope Pelican or Hori or whoever starts making arcade sticks for it.
