Genesis still has nice audio in its own right, but the mid-80’s Yamaha FM Arcade chip was inferior to SNES’s early 90’s Sony chipset.
X-men 2 Clone Wars was one of my favorite games as a kid. LISTEN TO THIS MUSIC.

You don’t have to, it was just a thought. You have a lot of Marvel games out there for different characters, and of course with different characters come different expectations. For example, I’m a huge Spidey fan and I’ve enjoyed a good majority of his games throughout his video game history but the only stand out one, IMO, at the moment is Web of Shadows. This isn’t particularly fair because certain things now just couldn’t be done back then. Anyways, it’s not the best but it’s standout to the character because it captured his ability to fight like a spider taking battles from ground to wall to air and he was very agile and could also transition from fighting to swinging to fighting again very fluid like. At the same time though I would also be the generous type to separate it and all the other “Sandbox” Spidey games and then rate them against each other. I also like Shattered Dimensions and the new company that’s taken hold of the Spidey license. Even Edge of Time, while not as good as it’s predecessor in many aspects, was still a decent game. Amazing Spiderman looks like it may capture the awesome combat system of Shattered Dimensions and spectacular web swing mechanics of older games in their first sandbox title. I’m keeping my fingers crossed on it.
I played a little bit of Web of Shadow just now and aside from some small bugs, the game is very good. It really captured the Spideyness of Spiderman. I’m not sure if it is better than Spider-Man 2 or Ultimate Spider-man, but it is one of the best sandbox style games.
Is the PS2 side scrolling version of Web of Shadow any good?
Oh, and when did Spider-Man learn Hokuto shinken in this game? lol
I’ve just got UMvC3 after all this time. Still need to play more, but I really like this improved version. I’m totally liking Nova!
Xmen Legends 1 and 2
MUA
Spiderman 1 and 2

This part of Clone Wars had me hype like no other as kid. I mean knocking Mags into that data chamber or whatever so he could sense that all his Acolytes had indeed be taken over and cloned and having him join the cast as a playable character was the shit. First time ever playing as Mags and he was dope as hell too with his floaty, hovering ass.
Oh Sega Genesis, how i love thee.
Even though i first grew up with an Atari 2600, an NES, and later an SNES at launch(SMWorld was like animated crack), when i bought a Genesis the following Christmas i became a Sega fanboy.
Not sure why but i think the (Model 1)Genesis always had a better presentation, in regards to how the system & box art looked. While SNES had that plain space shuttle look to it, the Genesis was like a cool starship or something(until the model 2 came along and then it looked kinda boring).
Also i loved Arcades back in the day and it seemed to get the most Arcade-style titles and ports. Even its first party library. Nintendo had great stuff too, but it was more of the long-term type of game that you invested tons of hours progressing through. While Sega’s Sonic, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe series among others, were of the Arcade style variety that you could pick up & play easy.
A lot less depth than something like Zelda or Metroid for sure, but still loads of fun and the limited lives/continues kept you coming back for more to try and beat them. Definitely the Arcade enthusiast’s system.
<---- Bought a Sega CD to pump up my Genesis back in the day.
Edit: Not trying to start a Vs issue or anything btw. Just talkin’ bout Geneisis yo, as X-Men clone wars really took me back.
Ahhhhhh…

You poor soul.
Vs series both catagories
Xmen arcade is fun as hell too also ultimate spiderman

Punisher and spiderman arcade are the best.
Ill never forget the “whooooo” from the spiderman enemies.
Non marvel = streets of rage 2 and river city ransom (beat em ups)

I did earlier and yes that game was an amazing beat’em up! Great graphics, amazing music, and excellent gameplay.
A shame it never got a home port back in the day. If the ports were even 1/3rd as awesome as the arcade, it would have sold well. Konami’s loss.
Totally! X-men the arcade game is a very good and fun beat-em’up. Playing with 6 players (aside from arcade version only the PSN version I’ve read can do, correct me if I’m wrong though) is definitely the best! Question though, do you guys play the USA version rom or the Japan version rom on XBLA/PSN?
That game wasn’t that hard, but the second stage was so much better than the others.
The trick is just to use rogue to soften up the bosses.
All of the beat-em-ups were fun, but my favorite was Avengers. lol at Cap and Hawkeye having to ride a Cobra-Bubble for the shooter stages
The NES Avengers game was really good too. Too bad it was overlooked. It actually reminded me of the GI Joe games on NES, which were also really good and truly Nintendo-hard.
Never played the second but the first G.I.Joe game was pretty good. Great music in that one!
