Best and Worst games based on Marvel Comics

Maximum Carnage for genesis was gdlke, as many cameos as Zoolander:tup:

Good
X-men 1+2 on Genesis
Punisher beat em up
Hulk
Maximum Carnage

Bad
Xmen/Spiderman arcades revenge - REALLY bad controls, some awful ledge jumping, and some BRUTAL parts made that game completely unfun to play through.

This should give you an idea of how rough it is because this guy is save stating and still having a hard time.

Xmen Origins: Wolverine was better than the movie it’s based off of.
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destrustion is IMO one of the best comic book video games I have ever played…I wish they’d actually re-release it on PSN.

Xmen: Ravagers of Apocalypse total conversion for Quake 1

EDIT: Entire game is freeware now and you can download it from the developer here:

spider man on the PS1

That game was on another level of hard. I understand games back then were generally harder just to be hard, but that game was on a whole nutha level of bullshit.

Definitely one of the worst Marvel games ever.

batman returns on the snes

throws were extremely satisfying in this game, grabbing the penguin out of air and throwing his ass onto the floor with one hand, throwing goons into walls and signposts

Marvel Comics games man.

MvC3 is really bad!

Yeah, I’ve heard that the developers of Xmen Origins Wolverine were making the game way before the movie was made.

The x-men ones, the recent ones that gave way to MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE
where really good

You’re thinking of X-Men: Legends I believe. The dungeon crawlers.
Honestly, those games were so good, that because we live in a world where they exist, the Ultimate Alliance series is shit. Marvel:UA basically took everything that was good about Legends and threw it out.
You didn’t have to manage buffs/debuffs, you weren’t taxed with managing much of anything, and in UA you get a fucking block button that makes you impervious to damage. Legends didn’t play that shit, if your stats said you were hit, you were fucking hit, you couldn’t just draw a bunch of agro hold block and let your teammates do all the work.

That rant aside, I remember playing Marvel Superheroes War of the Gems as a kid, like a lot.

Also, how has nobody mentioned Spider-Man 2 yet?

I didnt know that!
they fuckin didnt make them backwards compatible!
soo whack! plus they had so many characters to choose from!

UA did have some awesome Damage and cheap tricks! haha.

Which one do you mean? Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro or Spider-Man 2 The Game? I have played both games, but never completed either. Spider-Man 2 The Game I have played on the Gamecube. The main story might be short and the side missions are a little repetitive, but being able to swing and do other things just like Spider-Man is awesome. I’ve heard that Ultimate Spider-Man is even better than S2TG.

For S2EE, I like the fact I could use different suits and such.

I definitely need to get both of these again.

I was able to buy Ultimate Spider-Man for the Gamecube today for 6 bucks. I’m loving the game so far. The Electro fight with Venom is a little tough.

The ones that the TONY HAWK people did? I heard those were pretty fun! no clue

Arcade’s Revenge ruined my childhood. However, I still love the opening music.

I don’t think Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions gets enough love. It was pretty damn fun.

I’d say the Venom run has only one or two rough patches of gameplay after you fight Electro. It’s awesome.

MvC3 is great – and the hate it receives is mostly unfounded – though a low-tier Thor is a real bummer.

I was a huge, huge fan of X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse on the SNES. ‘Twas a great beat-em-up by Capcom with SF-style special moves and some rather bitchin’ music.
