Why has no one mentioned Deadpool? Infinite in X-Factor, already damaging combos, good chip with guns, Teleport to rush. He has plenty of tools.
It may work but if ur bunny hopping without thinking, u might get hit low trying to jump after landing. Ur going to be in block stun in the air and when u land she can hit low bc xfact chun is super fast. I’m not sure if this is absolutely true but online it works.
I haven’t really seen any players use deadpool much in higher level competition besides Hori|Tatsu i think. correct me if im wrong.
Yeah, he isn’t that popular, I just don’t get why. He’s a great character for any spot on the team, but no one uses him at high levels.
Deadpool was one of the weird characters I was looking for input on as what he has in numbers 1-3 as far as getting close or actually being a powerful anchor. Looking for people who know anything about Shuma’s 1-3 capabilities also. Every character has a few funny tools in XF3 but they gotta have meat and potatoes to get into solid or powerful potential as anchor. I would assume both Deadpool and Shuma could easily fall into at least solid anchors depending on…
Which throws (if any) can they land full bnb’s or at least a super off of without assist, their speed in XF3 (I think they both get at least the 30 percent increase) and what tools do they have to keep themselves in on advance guards and what if any tools do they have that scare Dark Phoenix?
The only other character I would probably move up to powerful anchor specifically at this point is Taskmaster because I forgot to consider his obvious strengths if he has to fight the XF3 Dark P. His offense in XF3 is easy to run away from and pushguard out that is only so much of a threat against standard teams if he has to run through all 3, but the fact that he can stop Dark P. from making moves that can TOD her and has a projectile counter is pretty useful. Spider Man has a chance of moving up to solid because of his new trick against Dark P. but his absolute mediocrity when it comes to coming back on 3 people and his garbage assists pretty much offsets that. If he could get his own damage off throws that would make it so his comeback factor at least wouldn’t rely on randomness.
I think he would see alot more use if his guns assist was horizontal rather than diagonal. Also think it’s because most of the characters at you see played at high levels either don’t need an OTG assist to get good damage, or they already have one and just need someone to extend it from there. Plus you can just use Wesker for his assist.
He’s solid though.
I played bb hood, deviljins bro, like two weeks ago. Felicia is indeed a nightmare, im still in awe ! good shit though, see you guys round to get some games in again hopefully
Hmm, I guess Taskmaster could be a good anti-DPh. I currently run a team of Dante/Taskmaster/Felicia, but perhaps I could change that to Taskmaster/Dante/Felicia. Then I could keep my XF3 Felicia for non-DPh fights, but if I see DPh on a team, I could just hold A2 before the fight to put Taskmaster in the anchor position.
Seems like it could work.
On Vanilla MvC3, Wesker, Dante, Akuma, Spencer, Wolvie, Magneto, Sentinel.
With some of the fixes now that I see on UMvC3… The best anchors on UMvC3 are Dante, Spencer, Akuma or Strider.
Dark Phoenix is S tier Anchor and best anchor in the game for sure until proven otherwise. Taskmaster, Akuma, Wesker, Sentinel, Felicia, Deadpool, Trish, and Dormammu are below Phoenix but arent ranked imho. They all bring somethin to the table, and can stage massive comebacks on their own. Also they all are decent against the whole cast. X-factor is important but Ive seen comebacks with these charcters the most since the games been out. And sometimes they pull off bullshit without the x-factor…its rare though. So those are good anchors if you ask me. Everyone else is meh.
for those that say Super Skrull is good as an anchor its to be debated. Without XF hes chopped meat. Although he’s a very good Spiral-ish character as in he’s a good middle man or tank 2nd Slot to just spam supers and save x-factor for the better characters on your team… But on point and anchor…its not that he aint good. Its just there are way better characters to put on point and anchor.
Save a Shiner for Skrull on Ultimate. Drink to that in hopes of him getting what he deserves.
Because he’s not a good character, that’s why. I would even say he might even be bottom 5 as a point character.
His damage potential isn’t that great outside of DHC glitch territory and he has one of the lowest XF power boosts in the game. As an anchor, 1-on-1 his damage is even worse. He can OTG off his throws, but even with XF3 X-Factor most characters can survive.
But what really kills him is his unreliable normals, bad recovery and low health, meaning 1-on-1 as an anchor he doesn’t have a safe way to approach and every mistake means death. His teleports are very unsafe, can’t be used to extend combos and every 3rd one blows up in your face so I don’t know how anybody can espouse that teleports make him better as an anchor. Quick Work is actually a better “teleport” than his actual teleport is, as it lets you get out of the corner and to the other side of the screen in a hurry, and you can actually cancel into Super if it hits.
Deadpool definitely has BnB options after his throws (Katana-rama or dash xx Katana-rama) and pretty sure Shuma does too.
Not sure Deadpool has anything to scare Dark Phoenix. XFC guard cancel to Level 3 Counter might be the closest but his counter doesn’t even work against any of her normals that spit projectiles.
Shuma has Chaos Dimension for Phoenix. It does 400k withOUT X-Factor, so if you kill their 2nd-to-last character and chip her with even 1-hit Mystic Smash and cancel IMMEDIATELY into Chaos Dimension it’s unavoidable unless she does Level 1 coming in, but you can bait that and grab her afterward anyways.
He has a ton of ways to guarantee Chaos Dimension off block, especially in X-Factor but the problem is he has to activate first and then be able to catch her.
Look at your assist. Now back to Akuma. Now back to your assist. Now back to Akuma.
Sadly, your assist isn’t Akuma. But if you started playing to win and switched to Akuma, he could be. Look down, now back up. Where are you? You’re in Top 8. With the tatsu assist you could have.
What’s in your hand? Back at Akuma. He has it. It’s a ticket with 64 EVO Points. Look again. The ticket is now prize money.
Anything is possible when your assist is tatsu Akuma. I’m on a horse.
Seriously it’s such a great assist for any team. It gets you in, it helps you stay in, it boots people out, it extends combos. You have days to hit confirm because it throws them up in the air in an unteched fall for some stupid reason. They should call the guy Chucky Cheese because it’s always happy birthday with Akuma.
And then he can blow up teams on his own with XF3 and some meter, and he can threaten Phoenix as well. That is literally everything you want from an assist character. The only thing he can’t do is turn into Dark Phoenix when he dies.
And that is why his Tatsu gets nerfed in UMVC3.
Bingo. Wade would be seen much more often with M Trigger Happy instead of H on the assist.
Hawkeye and Strider. Compared to Akuma, Doom, and others, how would they rank?
Strider, Phoenix, Dante, Wesker, Akuma, Dorm. Those are the ones that make me go “OH SHIT” when they pop level 3 x factor.
Strider is the new akuma… only now he goes dark phoenix style with 3 bars and crack factor…
Hawkeye’s greyhound arrow assist is probably the fastest projectile assist in the game. It’s like having Akuma tatsu in a projectile. You don’t necessarily absorb all low and medium durability projectiles and get the same multi hit lockdown options but it’s great for general pressure and anybody that can set up left/right mix ups into combos. As an actual anchor he’s decent but kinda hit or miss because you’re going to be forced to go in if they have their XF in a one v one situation. His gimlet super is negative 28 on block and negative 8 on hit so be careful about just spamming the super like akuma beam. Your only real mix up with anchor Hawkeye is H trick into shot left/right or tick throws into combos. If you do land a combo though you can kill people easily and the fact that he can land combos off any of his throws is a big deal for an anchor.
Strider you’ll kinda want to try to kill the first character without burning Ouroboros first if you have to fight down 3 people. His combos are not necessarily ABCS, BBCS easy since he basically has to do a double backwards rekka motion to self OTG but once you get it down you can kill people in XF3 pretty easy. When you’re down to the last guy you can just rip Ouro + XF and tear them up. Being able to play an anchor that can’t be thrown when they activate a level 3 is a pretty big deal. Ouro shuts down just about everything basically outside of random beam supers. He’s also impossible to lame out and comes with one of the game’s best assists.
Also looking at becoming a near counter to Dark Phoenix especially if he has 3 meters.
Magneto should be on the list of those characters that make you go… “ohhh Hell…” when they pop XF-3
Yeah especially now that his point game has been toned and how he gets all of his Vanilla BS back as soon as you put him in even XF1.
