When that says “monitor” it means its a TV without an ATSC and QAM tuner. It may have an NTSC tuner, but won’t pick up anything in HD by itself. Also, that doesn’t seem to be a particularly great deal.
I have a 52" 7 Series Samsung and really like it. Don’t notice much lag with street fighter IV but I’m no pro. PQ is amazing, I only use Game mode for shooters but even in other modes I don’t notice anything. I’m not a hardcore gamer just casual. If your in Canada you can purchase it at futureshop. LN46A750 is the part number for the 46" I did a lot of research before making this purchase, it was either this tv or plasmas by pioneer or panasonic.
i’m not too worried about picking up HD signals with the TV itself. also, i find it really hard to find good deals on large LCDs in Canada. $900 for a 46" is pretty good by my standards. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried out using a tv/monitor like this and how the lag was for gaming.
I have a samsung 7 and component lags even in game mode so most likely S-video and composite will lag too. but HDMI with game mode on is fine lag is mostly unnoticeable. and VGA has no lag also
if you get a samsung TV make sure you hook up Ur systems on HDMI or VGA if you dont want lag.
I don’t understand the visual lag everyone is talking about. I’ve never experienced it. I’m on a 8 MS Westinghouse (42") HD Moniter and use a VGA cable for my xb360.
I just picked up a LN46A850 for my room from Frys.com, and it is absolutely fantastic. For 1400 shipped, I personally think that it can’t be beat.
The only thing is apparently some people have issues with RF interference from the remote, but I haven’t experienced anything of the sort.
Seriously beautiful TV. I’ve got my PC, Wii, 360, PSP and PS3 all hooked up to it, and everything runs nicely on it. It even makes the Wii games look decent lol :x
One thing I will say negative about it though -absolutely horrible speakers. Then again, if you’re getting a 46" tv, I hope you’re not relying on the built-in speakers.
I haven’t experienced any ghosting at all with it. With my old Sharp 32" (non-aquos), when I roamed around in the Wii menu, I would get trails of the little hand cursor, and it’s not noticeable at all on the new set.
That is a very nice TV, make sure you get it calibrated or check out AVSforum.com for calibration settings. Your PQ will look even better after some tweaking
Here is a question for all you big screen gamers, how do you do it? I tried playing on a 42 inch at my friends house and It was too big. I had trouble seeing everything but when I moved back, it was harder for me to make out things clearly.
What size do you play on normally? When you jump to a large screen your eyes have to track more visual space - you’ll get used to it. I’ve been on a 42inch for a few years and I experienced what you’re talking about (I used to completely turn my head to see the sides, lol).
