Ok so I’m 14 and I’m a huge fighting game fan. Street fighter never really caught my eye until I saw a video at evo on youtube. Was only planning on watching the first couple minutes, but I got hooked and watched about 2 hours. I’ve been studying it for about a week or two and I’m super hype. I’ve played fighting games before and I’m definitely not a noob.
. I was a decent Johnny cage player on mk9 back in its prime.
. I’m currently a 4th lord on umcv3 with my team being Wolverine,Akuma,Stryder
. A level 70 batman player on injustice and was in the top 100 in ranked for a little while
So I wouldn’t say I’m a “pro” or “expert” at fighting games. But please don’t think I’m getting this just to play with my friends or because it has flashy colors.
I would like you to recommend some characters for a beginner. I’m currently interested in using akuma, evil ryu, gouken,Hakan, oni and Rufus. I understand that people like cammy or ryu would be best for me because I’m a begginner, but I would like to know what other characters I could use or what characters from my list would you recommend. I’m currently looking for a semi fast paced character, who has good mix ups, but also a decent keep away game. Any thoughts would be much appreciated
Well you got a few shoto characters you’re interested in, so yeah Ryu is also a good choice. Speaking as somebody who is also a beginner, I found Ryu good for getting a handle on the game and learning how such a character works, and more importantly how to play against them. If you prefer a charge style character, Balrog and Guile are both good choices for a beginner. They’re pretty simple to use. Guile only has two special moves you need to worry about. Good for learning how to use your normal attacks. Oh, and don’t forget to throw to mix it up. That catches new players off guard more than you’d think.
All those characters u list are very difficult to use successfully. However u should go with whoever u like, no point in learning an easy character that u have no intention of ever actually using.
Pick Akuma. He has easy, abusable offense, strong pokes, simple combos (some 1 frame links), and will get you used to a lot of the fundamentals of the game. You can literally just walk around and hit sweep occasionally and get wins off people at low level.
