Beginner Tips and a random Capcom question

I played Sf x T a few months ago and I know the basics of the game such as the L, M, H, H launcher, and most of the moves in general for all the Sf characters, but I need help because I want to use Jin or King with Ryu or Ken in my team because they look good when I watch gameplays and I feel kinda lost without ryu or Ken, I love hwaorang but I dont think he is the character for me so I needed to know any tips someone had that could help me choose a team.

And I also play on the xbox and me and a friend would really like to do tag team online but we dont have a ps3 so does anyone know that if In 2013 will we see tag team on the 360 as well as the DLC that we shouldnt have to pay for, such as the characters. I mean personally the only thing that should be DLC is the costumes, not the colors and characters, I mean capcom makes great games. I dont know why they got all money hungry, I mean if they did what they are supposed to do they would do equally as well without having to charge 15 whole dollars for bout 20 characters, where only a few of them are legitmately top tier, I mean all the characters are decent but nobody to me truly “stands out”. What im trying to ask, is has Capcom listened to the fans this time around,(will we see free dlc on all platforms, or coop online on the xbox) or are we in for a long time of this money hungry stage capcom has begun to involve themselves in. I know they are fixing bugs and broken things in the game but is this capcom staying around for a long time?

Capcom never listens to their fans.

If they did, we wouldn’t have paid DLC characters, and Phoenix Wright would have never made it in UMVC3 over Megaman.

Other than those points, I’m not really sure what you’re asking here. Care to elaborate a little clearer?

I just want to know really like how to go about creating a team, like I said I want to use Jin or King on my team, I just need good characters to back them up on the Street Fighter side because I personally think that a street fighter character works well with a tekken character and this is basically what Im going off of in terms of developing a team, like King and maybe Ken, or Jin and like Rolento or something

Out of the characters you said, I’d probably go with Ken and Jin, or King and Ken.

Jin is a really good character. He has projectiles that are useful for trapping people on wakeup, which kind of ups his pressure game in itself. I used to play him on a Juri/Jin team and it was just plain awesome.

Asking how to create a good team is going to be based on what characters you want to play with. It’s time to go around that roster and experiment to see who will be a part of your team. If you’re asking who is good with them, that will depend on you. You want to try out Jin and King? Go for it! Worst case scenario is that you don’t like them, but understand them a little better when you face them. Finding characters that you can play decently is the start to forming a good team though. I’ve lost to teams that have every kind of mix of street fighter and tekken characters, so I wouldn’t worry very much about requiring a team that needs a character from each group.

Its not really like a necessity to have a sf character partnered with a tekken character, I just feel like teams are much more effective with this settup because a large portion of the sf cast have projectiles and not many of the Tekken characters posess a decent projectile, but I totally get what you are saying, I mean my success in the little time ive had with the game has come from either character and it always felt weird with the two on the team, I mean Im a mvc player so I do build my teams around 1 or 2 characters so Im thinking that for this game that mentality isnt all that effective some of the time

When I make teams in this game I usually build it around the person who is going to go in first.

Case in point, my main team is Cammy/Asuka. This team is VERY very mean and it relies on pressuring my opponent to be afraid to make any attacks through serious punishment. I don’t know how familiar you are with the two characters, but if you really want to use one from each franchise that badly then you should definitely try that team out. Learn Asuka’s BnB’s, and learn to abuse Cammy’s excellent as always normals.

Another pressure-heavy team I used to run is Cammy/Ibuki. They literally run circles around most match ups.

I love Cammy, I generally like teams that are rush down, its just that I find myself playing differently from every other game I play, but I will look into those teams soon

HEY. I wanted Phoenix Wright :c
Although I also want Megaman Legends 3. I guess you’re still right :l

Back on subject-
I agree,
I think team building in this game is having a first character who can get in (good pokes/speed), and a mixup/damage character for later. King is a pretty sick anchor, ryu is cool wherever.

I have no objection to his inclusion either. They could have made him not such a shitty character, but whatever.

Capcom is just asinine in that way though. Literally the most requested characters were Venom and Megaman (Megaman being # 1) and they made the choice to put in characters like Rocket Raccoon and Wright instead. Then they have the gall to put some fat-ass retarded version of Megaman into SFxT. It’s like they’re slapping us all in the face with a huge dick.

And the terrible irony…is that I like (most of) their games. And I will continue to buy them.

You know what was bad? When they didn’t release the characters for free after they were found out. Not having online xbox play is enough to claim ‘the product didn’t work as advertised’ but paying that $20 unlock key is bull. I think Capcom is full of smart game developers and dumb marketing managers. At least it’s not the other way around.

Juri x Asuka > Cammy x Asuka. Just sayin.

I personally like Cammy over Juri just because Juri is Crazy as FUCK

This is bad how?

She Creeps me out!!!

She is a super sexy ass kicking slut. That’s not creepy, it’s hot

Building a solid team that suits you can be both a simple yet difficult process in my opinion.

I say this because there are so many factors when it comes to picking a good team from both an aesthetic point of view and a game-play point of view and it’s trying to find this balance which is what makes team building interesting in my opinion. It’s like a voyage into the unknown especially if you play not so common characters.

For instance it took me quite a while to find a good partner for Akuma which fit suited me well and even then I complain about stuff like lack of health, people’s immature, over-sexualized and downright rude comments about my team and the fact that generally my matches online tend to go like this:

Akuma goes in.

Akuma gets punched in the face and loses over half of his health from a simple hit confirm.

Akuma tags in Lili.

PROFIT!!!

And then I ask myself:

‘So, Akuma why were you here in the first place?’ o_O

Anecdotes aside, since you said that you like rush-down game-play just build a team around it but you must have a back-up plan if things go south like probably having a pocket secondary for bad match-ups or adapting your play style throughout.

If my answer was too vague or anything like that just quote this post and I’ll evaluate it more. I have a tendency to go off on tangents sometimes that’s the reason why my posts are probably so long at times.

Actually this is actually the case with my UMVC3 team, which is Vergil, Akuma, and Wesker. My vergil isnt all that powerful, in my hands at least, I play on pad right now so Round Trip combos are hard to pull off and Im not changing my controls because It wont feel right Changing controls over one character, but I use him for pressure because if you press launcher and then heavy, then repeat, it will build some meter and the other guy wants to punish him because his normals are very unsafe on block, BUT I throw out a special to make it safe, and the other guy is confused as to the mind fuckery that just happened. But I know how it feels when your favorite character feels out of place, or like they dont do anything to contribute to your team. I just recently bought it for myself and I like the Ken and Jin team, and I like Rolento ALOT, so he’s on my backup team now, but I understand what you are saying. I also complain about Akumas low health in Street Fighter and MVC, he’s probably the least used Shoto character to my knowledge, Ken being the more popular, but there also is a way around the health issue. Dont play Akuma like he has low health, Im not saying go kill yourself with akuma, Im saying people get kinda confused when someone is pressuring nonstop rather than pressure after something unsafe, which is a tactic Ive been seeing a lot lately. I used to play Akuma, but the health issue turned me off, I never used him again, but I know how he is played because I used to play him. I know I went off on a huge tangent trying to assist your akuma, which may not work, if how you are playing him works then by all means keep doing what your doing, Its just what i have experience with

First off, I would like to say thanks for the advice. I understand where you are coming from with the low health issue with Akuma, there are days where it drives me up the wall at times.

Then again, I think character loyalty is the only thing that is keeping me from dropping him from my team. He is arguably my favorite video game character just because of his aura of coolness about him.

Also there have been times where I have had to make come-backs with Akuma alone and when that is successful it is TOO satisfying probably it’s because I have Lili, who provides him 450+ off of a single :hp: SRK (all 3 hits) plus the ability to tag back out again.

Plus there are some who think he sucks in the game, mouthing of to me about how long I’m going to last and then they get Misogied, die and then the whole lobby goes silent…

‘Finally some peace and quiet’ I think to myself.

And then they start complaining about how ‘overpowered and broken’ he is :). Whilst sometimes making all of these dirty jokes about my team. When in all honesty, I think that they have it easier than me with their characters e.g. Cody & Kazuya.
