"Becoming the strongest woman in the world!" Chun-li Match-up Thread

im going to reorganize the thread btw, there are some OS in YT (mostly u2 OS against rog and such) and here in the boards, it wont hurt to have all that info in one place imo

My fault. I know of the OS thread - but I didn’t knew it is updated by Malva

yep thats me :D. It was supposed to be an stickied thread, but i dont know what happened with that

request it to be stickied it really should be

Malva, if you don’t mind, I can find a place in the Thigh Guide for it. I do have an Option Select section after all, but I had no idea you were still updating your thread.

I’ll get to work on that soon.

i have no problem snake, actually that way the other thread will be just for LL loop inputs and what not.

OS guide is bomb how many of ya’ll going to Evo?

I’m not, unfortunately… I will be in Vegas that weekend lol, but I’m there with family and won’t be competing. Plus I can’t be in Evo on Friday for pool play because of work.

im not entering either just wanna play the TOP PLAYERS in a few MM’$

Anyone got a reliable LK HSU Setup against Gief on Wakeup? Been trying around in PMode yesterday.

btw.: EX Legs, jump, late j.HK is only safe against Yun/Yangs DP, but not against (EX)Command Throw?

Oh… so this is what people meant by using stomps vs Yun. I knew had the wrong/incomplete idea all along.

Ha, I was actually not talking about that.

My idea was, if you jump to try and meet him in the air but he dive-kicks below you, can you stomp him out of the air? Or if you can predict a dive kick, can you do an instant (or nearly instant) headstomp to catch him?

The video you posted is useful but most Yuns are able to space their dive kicks better than that.

Aw, man! And I’m no good at :d: j. :mk: stomps yet, let alone instant ones. Sorry I can’t help.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I played my friend today and I had a lot of problems dealing with his jump-ins attacks, especially his j.RH. I read the matchup notes and read that d/f LK was the best option to AA Cody, but considering the thread haven’t been updated in quite some time and that her d/f LK has been nerfed in AE, I was wondering what would be the best option to AA him. I believe st.mk badly trades with his j.HK and cr.mp gets beat because of the angle of the move.

IMO, cr mp and st mk are your best tools for that situation. the first is great because it lowers her hitbox and the second is effective at stuffing most jump-in attacks at the right angle without trading damage.

(hate typing forum responses on my iPhone)

I stopped using df.LK.
Your cr.MP gets beaten by Cody? I used it consistently on him… maybe I just got lucky. Else, depending on the spacing: c.MP (close), s.MK (mid), s.FP (far).
Else: Block

Blocking is always good, this tends to lead to a series of outcomes:

 • Opponent lands, goes for throw.
 • Opponent continues attacks attempting to fish for counter-hit
 • Opponent lands, and does nothing. Usually done to bait a reaction. (i.e. Chun’s EX SBK)

Sadly most (average) players rarely do the last option. They always feel every second must be filled with pressing buttons.

Yeah… I don’t know if my timing was off, but I tried AAing with cr.mp and it got beat by j.hk clean. I stopped using it the entire set we had because I was scared it would happen again.

Anyways, I’ll try it again and see if it was just me or the lag from the tv we played on.

I regularly have a hard time with cody’s jump ins. I don’t know if the timing the opponent uses messes it up but it feels very hard to anti air him reliably. I need to spend some time in training mode with him.

and of course, a good jump in with cody can lead to 30% damage so that always sucks.

-You can jab check and knock blanka out of balls, he can’t really pressure you with this even with short range balls.
-The mp and hp balls are punishable without Ultra in AE, just walk up and do st. mp, sweep or dash up and do a quick bnb if it was the HP ball that was blocked.
-cr. lk x N xx EX Legs only works on Blanka while he’s standing, the other combo you listed works on both standing and crouching Blanka.
-Slide is punishable , sweep, super, or ultra or whatever you want that’ll reach.
-EX Blanka Ball is Ultra Punishable ON HIT, bait it with a fireball from long range, take the hit, and ultra
-Punish sweep with Ultra 1. Blanka’s tend to sweep sometimes after electricity because of their +10 advantage (i.e. you press any button other than EX bird and you get knocked down). Look for it and punish.
-Use cl. HP to deal with non-meaty crossup traps. If it’s meaty… he earned it.
-Use your Ultra to counter both of his ultra’s if he’s just going for chip and not close enough to make his U1 meaty. Also you can EX SBK his ultra 1, so no ambigous, meaty ultra trap for him if you have 1 stock of meter.
-Along with want people already posted, you can also hasanshu or ultra to beat blanka’s electricity if he’s just spamming it and not using it in a proper blockstring. After a throw or knockdown, walk up about a jab’s range away and then lk HSU. He’ll learn that he can’t just mash electricity to get out of pressure. THEN you can pressure and bait other moves if he learns.

Aside from that. just stay solid and turtle if you have the lead. In Super and Vanilla, this matchup generally went in the favor of who ever had the lead imo because then they had the right to turtle while the other had to give up their charge to try to steal the lead back. But now in AE with Blanka’s nerfs (You can actually punish blanka balls pretty hard on block without ultra so chip is not free for him anymore), I think it swings in Chun’s favor.

A few twins things:

-One thing I’ve been using against Yun after seeing it stuff reversal upkicks is a delayed df+ HK after a knockdown. It works pretty well.
Example:
Throw, dash, wait a few split seconds, DF+ HK
Sweep, wait, DF+ HK

The regular auto-correct timing for his upkicks won’t work and his best solution I’ve tested so far is to cross-cut it (which is very hard to do) or try to auto-correct very very late. Auto correct Ultra 1 whiffs, and focus backdash can be quickly caught by Chun st. Fierce punch on reaction (or OS Fierce). His only other escape is EX shoulder, which will not hit you and force him to burn a meter.

-Vs. blocking a badly spaced divekick from the twins, reversal EX Legs is pretty good, super if you have it. Yang’s Divekicks are safer than Yun’s so it’s harder for Yun to space his correctly without eating a super on block.

-LK Lightning legs is a good anti-air to gamble against divekick pressure vs. the twins just like vs. Rufus because even on trade it knocks them all the way across the screen. Otherwise make educated guesses.

-Punishing Yun’s palm with Ultra 1 is like how punishing Blanka balls USED to be in Super: You can either time it in your head or Auto-time it with dash ultra on reaction to the palm. Just watch out for fake palms. Regardless, it’s a good way to limit his meter-building game if you have ultra. If he’s over-faking, just start moving in.

-Yangs roll kicks, EX roll kick and Ultra 2 are NOT invincible on startup. You can pressure away after a knockdown. Bait and punish the teleport if you can.
Edit: My mistake… his lk roll kick is invincible on startup. You can pressure with a meaty cr. mk from a distance (reversal will whiff if he does it), but up close your moves can get beat.
