Ok Chun fans, I’ve made the switch from Chun to Dudley a while ago. I want to know if someone can help me decipher this terror of a match up from Chun’s POV. I’m getting murdered by sweeps, and my only answer for them are fishing for FA. Any tips you guys can shine on me?
I put down SSFIV for a while, but I’m getting back into it now.

Admittedly, this guy is thought of as the best in Europe. So… I’m not exactly thinking there that I could beat him. BUT, I’m wondering… what is it in theory that Chun should be doing?
Does she have any real answers for that? I can handle a Cammy ‘on my level’, but this is obviously different. I’m not going to cry if she doesn’t because I can imagine many characters struggle. I looks like its a case of ‘don’t let cammy rush you’.

He option-selects jab into Ultra 1 a lot. A LOT. Knowing that, you could technically EX Hazanshu on wakeup. Since it has invincibility, his jab would whiff, causing Ultra 1 to come out, but it wouldn’t hit you since you’d go over. You’d probably be too far away for a punish opportunity though. I’m guessing that if you tried to jump the option select, the jab would hit you out for a reset. I wonder if you could EX SBK it and beat the jab?
Also, Cammy’s up close instant dive kick is a natural punish for people who crouch tech. I don’t know of a good answer for it aside from having good intuition and knowing when to tech throws. There are certain standing moves that will beat her instant dive kick, but if you stand you risk getting hit by a low attack, whereas crouching is safer since Cammy has no overhead.
I have had some success beating dive kicks with cr.MP but I don’t know if I got lucky or if it’s a clean counter. Using df+LK from that close also isn’t viable unless it’s totally on prediction (though I wish there was a good way to option-select crouching tech AND df+LK, that would be godlike).
It’s also important to know at what trajectory her Dive Kick crosses up.
If she Dive Kicks from high enough, you can Focus Absorb and crumple and there’s nothing Cammy can do about it.
LOL you do know how good Alioune is right? You could do a lot of things to him and his cammy… But trust me you can’t

The Cammy I play against is probably the best in the UK (well deffo is) and tbh once he gets in it very often round over, with all the subtle delays to dive kicks and general speed of her rushdown… Plus the fact that once cornered as far as I can tell there is like no escape from a Cammy on the level of the one I play against (for me anyway)
I just try to keep that bitch out for as long as possible (cr.strong (stuffs a lot of ground and air options, st.strong and far RH is pretty good at stuffing long range space closing divekicks), get meter that way I have an EX SBK to generally waste as he divekicks it or at best break his pressure…
Also I try to stand block as much as possible so I don’t get caught with too many cr.tech baits, although currently I’m hating the instant divekick on my wake up to just whiff as I stand into instant grab/crazy damage combo mix up
IDK if anyone’s mentioned this yet, but all of Abel’s wheelkicks are punishable on block with Super. I’m pretty sure you can also punish them on hit as well using reversal timing if he’s not hitting with the tip of his foot.
Super? Punish that shit with ULTRA 1, son!
Every version of Abel’s Wheel Kick except EX is punishable by Ultra 1 on block. If he does EX, Reversal Super or Reversal EX Legs.
Oh, I didn’t know that. I just started using Chun last week, so I’m still fairly new to all of her matchups :x I always used U2 against Abel for the most part anyway so yeah…

I talked about this before, but since you’re probably new to the thread I’ll just say it again - personally (and this is just my personal opinion, other players probably don’t feel this way), I prefer Chun’s U1 against Abel. It’s a hard counter for his U2 since it breaks armor, and he can’t cancel it in time to save himself if you activate right after he does.
Additionally, I’ve tried U2 versus Abel and I never felt like there was a time it really helped me a lot.
Hmmm, I see where you’re coming from. I’ve been using U2 a lot against him, but like you said, it really doesn’t feel like it does much for the matchup. I think I’ll try using U1 for Abel from now on. Thanks for the tips! o:

Crouch tech with fierce (crouching.lp + lk + hp) counters instant canon strike dive kick spam.
cr.LP+LK+HP trades more often. I think LK Hazanshu is the best option in that scenario. However, if it is delayed dive kick - she flies over Cammy then lol GG.
Trade is better than whiffing and taking a punish up the wazzoo.
I like using option select STAND fierce/throw with cammy divekicks. It’s not a catch-all(as low attacks will hit if you aren’t fast enough), but close standing fierce’s hitbox tells divekicks to fuck off.
This doesn’t work unless you are psychic or the Cammy player is really bad.
I have played against Keno’s Cammy and he almost never Cannon Strikes unless it’s an instant, off-the-ground Cannon Strike. It’s too hard to react to, and I’ve only ever hit him out with df+LK once, and it was on accident because he reset me and crossed up to the other side which I thought was back, so I was trying to hold downback and crouch tech when I actually ended up holding down-forward.
That is why you eye it and not guess. Although, a fellow Syd player over at Japan says Cammy’s minimum CS height is roughly a third of her jump arc (around a head higher than Ryu) so cr.HP+LP+LK could possibly be the answer in AE. Pretty shit for Cammy however.
