"Becoming the strongest woman in the world!" Chun-li Match-up Thread

I know you can do it off a focus, but I’ve never gotten it to activate off a regular backdash.

Extravagant, I will be available to play probably around 6 PM Pacific Time… but that’s only if I decide not to go to the arcade.

How about now on PSN? lol

I cant play tonight I have class from 6-10.
but if you really dont want to right now its ok
maybe tomorrow?

Uh, like I said, I’m at work. I work every weekday from 8-5, and sometimes stay late as it looks like I might be doing today.

Plus, tomorrow is a Friday so I’m definitely not going to be spending Friday evening on PSN.

Just add me and if there’s ever a time both of us are online we can play.

Totally my bad. I meant to say focus backdash in my other post which I’ve not edited. Sorry for the confusion.

oh… alright. sorry for bothering you :x I didn’t read that you were at work x]

'til then

how about you gunslinger can you play right now?

I’m in Australia. We won’t be able to play a game without lag infuriating the living bejeezus out of us.

Maybe you and I can play later today at night
If I play, I usually play midnight.

Wow lots of b*tch slaps flying round… Anyway!

The idea of Jumping in on Guile (charge or not) is pretty insane, the idea of jumping in on anyone with Chuns crazy hang time unless its safe (or well timed as a reaction/prediction) is also a little silly…

Whilst I understand SnakesAes theory of forcing the Guile player back and pressuring when he has no charge (that’s the general go to tactic against most Guiles) and yes you can back them up into the corner, the issue I had against the Guile I fought was simple.

He understood both his character and the match up (he knew the match up better than me :frowning: ) I simply wasn’t able to force him backwards as he made small ground (or large sometimes) forward off every boom. He was able to generally out poke me as he knew what buttons to press to beat out my moves or stop me from doing things, I basically lost the footsies game. Basically I was the one walking backwards, HSU over his booms didn’t really help as it closed the distance and did chip but soon enough he’d just forced me back away and got his fair share of chip back…

I got air grabbed for jumping (obviously) and also for poorly timed HSU’s (or focused) and once in the corner he was able to basically string waves of pressure on me as good Guiles can do… As I said in my earlier post, advice is always good (unless its really poor advice… hmmm) but I wasn’t really looking for advice as I know the basics of the match up. I was more just commenting on the fact Guile is hard and I now know this after facing a genuinely good one… Basically the Guile player was better than me and knew what to do against Chun, I’ll try and get some more games in against him and stick em here so you can offer more specific advice. General advice is fine but I know it all already what I need to know are more move priority based advice, baiting advice to catch things like his cr.forward for counterhits and really how to handle Guiles spacing and not advice like j.RH beat poorly timed flashkicks (honestly no offence but that’s like saying jumping at a Cammy who can’t DP is safe to do, everyone knows this but its not match up advice)…

Anyway I’ll try and upload some fights against him and then I can get some advice on what I was doing wrong at a more detailed level than the simple match up basics, he was a better player than me I think so its more my game that needs looking at not Chuns…

Edit: Can’t remember if I thanked Skatan for the Adon help the other week so cheers for that, also the point about creating a game plan for each match you play has helped a lot. Yeah I was a bit random before I’m working on the overall form of my game…

Hey snak sorry I couldn’t play earlier I was at school

Well this is the wrong thread but I thought I’d link these (not against the Guile) these are the newest matches I have to upload and they are a few weeks old and unfortunately I win in most but hopefully someone can see why a good Guile would give me issues lol…

Feedback welcome and yes I am expecting someone to blast my Chun lol

Vs someone just learning Vega (hasn’t played him that long)

He just wanted to know if it worked in round one it didn’t lol

Vs the Best Abel I know on my Friendslist

Anyway in general why would Guile give my Chun so many problems (sorry again for posting here and yes I’m fully ready for the your Chun sucks comments)

jf.mk > guiles air throw everytime.

If I have to jump in on guile, I always try to keep that in mind. So, with that I dont necessarily think jumping in on guile is a death sentence.

dude! can you really grab bison on his wake up ex.psycho after chun’s fwd throw?? i was just surprised by it when it happened.

at around :40

dude… if that’s legal… i need to learn it… sorry for my noobness if this has been seen before… i was surprised

actually u can grab many moves in their start up frames (and active frames, like blanka´s U1), so let see:

EX PC: start up **14 **Active **23 **Recovery **12+6 **

properties: 1~13f invincible, 37~48 cannot be throw, Pursuit Property, Armor Break

source: eventhubs

in theory u can grab him betwen the 14 to 36 frame (if im wrong plz let me know…)

You can only grab him on the ground on the 14th frame of EX PS, which is his first active frame. Plus it has a lengthy projectile hitbox in front of the the actual grab box. If you ever manage to grab him out of EX PS, you got extremely lucky.

Normal psycho crushers on ther other hand, are grabbable on the ground during their entire startup.

So I am going through and looking at other characters’ matchup threads to see how they deal with Chun, and found against Chun on wakeup. It’s probably not new to most of you guys but it can make your wakeup game pretty scary against an Abel who can pull this off consistently.

I figured the best option is just to block but then that potentially opens up a vulnerability to his command throw.

Also, and you’ll see if you read the comments on that video that I posted this there as well… but if Breathless catches Chun while she’s still backdashing, then the OS works, but if not, can Chun U1 on landing and stuff Abel’s U2?

You know, Nemo has used that OS against Bison. I think I pointed that out at one of the God’s Garden casual streams. But yeah, grabbing EX PC is pretty hot.

because abel really needs another method to score cheap damage.

still worth it tho, the alternative is getting mixed up for like 200 and an untechable knockdown.

ive actually grabbed an Akuma player out of SRK start up. Its pretty surprising to see stuff like that

Impossible.

Indeed, impossible.

In both Vanilla and in Super, Akuma’s SRKs have had 3-frame startup and have throw invincibility. They are unthrowable.
