Starbucks ending actually satisfied me. I’d rather have her end the way she did than something like the Cylons recreated her to trick mankind or something. She was being set up as an Angel of God for a while now, and it just came to it’s conclusion. If you can’t buy that, then you can’t buy the basis of the entire series (that there’s a higher power guiding them to their end).
Well, that’s it. I don’t know what to think really. I thought the BSG jumping in, ramming the colony, the fight for Hera, and the 5 deciding to give them resurrection only for the Chief to go nuts again was all good to me. The jump and just so happen to be the notes and numbers to earth makes sense. Letting the Centurians go was even okay to me, that way it can all start again I guess.
I think I’m even okay with Kara’s ending, in a weird way. An answer would’ve been nice, but I think I wanted her and Lee to end up together.
Those centurians are gonna go off, realize that they have those stupid red racing stripes painted on them with permanent ink, get pissed and come back to destroy the planet. A battle for the ink removal technology.
its just a bit annoying it was such a copout. i mean they more or less explained everyone but kara. They totally ignored the whole second body thing…or am i crazy. We get she was being guided, but wtf was the point in her finding her body…that made no sense to me. Are they saying she truly died and it was just an angel form or ghost this whole time?
b.) Died, and got resurrected as an Angel in order to fulfill her destiny.
You don’t even have to use the word Angel, she was more like a tool of destiny, or something along those lines. When she died, she came back because she HAD to come back.
my guess is…like alot of the show…it was up to personal interpretation. it seems they added alot of things just to fuck wit peoples heads and make them analyze it and make their own idea up.
i didnt totally hate the finale, but i didnt totally like it either. ill just leave it there.
anyhow kinda offtopic… Caprica/SGU, whos interested? both look more casually friendly. speaking of “fictional human” premises in media nowadays, whats your take on the Terminator movie trailer. and is Dollhouse good yet?
Loved the finale, it kept a very good pace the whole two hours and I was pretty happy with how everything was resolved. The chief was fucking up until the very end, but at least Tori got hers finally. I am not sure I would have sent all that technology and learning into the sun and started from scratch but you can certainly understand where they were coming from.
Kara seemed to be more of a christ-like figure at the end. A savior who died and rose again to save humanity.
The 6 and Baltar ghosts/angels are what confuse me more than anything. Any explanation I can come up with just doesn’t really fit. Maybe “The Plan” will flesh it out a bit more.
not sure what to think about the seemingly anti-robot ending, or if it’s really anti-robot. As far as I’m concerned, they have 40 years to make sure I’ve got a nice hot Asian fem-bot to take care of my old crippled ass, and they better not screw it up.
If this robot vs human is like some forever cycle that keeps happening. Shouldnt kara’s body be dead somewhere on Earth and shit. Just like it was on the crispy earth.
no. the concept of humans vs machines keeps happening, but the exact events dont. its just a constant battle with humanity and technology that we’ve been in since the beginning of time. But why would kara exist? she was just a tool to help end the war. she’s a ghhhooosttt woooooooo.
Something to think about, especially when you are wondering about “what’s the purpose of this or that”. A real big theme in BSG is the idea of free will or destiny. Do we make our own choices or do we have our own destiny?
Everyone on the BSG made choices that led to the final battle and their settling on “our” earth. But at the same time, you had characters like Kara, the virtual 6 and Baltar pushing things in a certain direction. The final speech Baltar gave to Cavil, when he was holding Hera hostage, that speech literally saved humanity. But Baltar would never have been able to make that speech without the help of Virtual 6 and by not having made all those decisions he made up until that point.
Remember, at the beginning of BSG Baltar was a selfish, womanizing atheist who hated his humble roots. By the end he began believing in a higher power and a willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
humanity was guided but it was all our choices to make. no god/s forced anyone to make a choice, they gave them options and basically guided them in the best possible direction.
as odd as it sounds this has been my personal belief in destiny and psyhcics. I have believed in destiny somewhat but have said that each person has a chosen path…if we end up in that road is up to us but their are people out there who try to help and guide us to the best option. different roads lead to different places but if we get guided onto the right path its all good.
