BattleField Arcadia XI: Rogue Squadron 02/07/10 + SUPER BOWL VIEWING CONFIRMED!

I respect you running tournaments, and I know it helps bring a lot of people out. Believe me, I’ve met new people by coming to these things. I haven’t been able to make a few for various reasons, but I always do my best. I just don’t like how people look up to you when you get into the public eye and people start instantly viewing you as a leader. You make us look bad. You really do. Your image is one of the many reasons professional gaming will NEVER be taken seriously as a sport/eSport. Here’s a quick scenario:

ESPN one day decides that they want to start broadcasting video game tournaments. This really could happen. They’ve broadcasted Magic The Gathering tournaments in the past. They start sniffing around seeing who public figures in this community are. They’re going to find the Canons, they’re going to find Wiz, and then they’ll find Triforce. Obviously it’s a big country, so they’ll decide to use the Canons for the West Coast, and then they go over here and call up Triforce. I can guarantee you they will stop DEAD in their tracks and call it a day once they realize that this guy’s real name is Triforce Game Master. If they don’t, then they’ll start Googling his name and see what comes up. They’ll find these ridiculous prologues and epilogues that he’s written, and then they’ll find this trailer:

They’ll see him talking the way he does, making up words like “neosapiens”, and then they’ll just turn around and cancel the whole thing. All because of this one guy.

Anyone who wants this game to get recognized as a real event should think about that for a while and really question whether or not Triforce is good for this community. Again, this is not directed towards Empire players, I respect all of you and you know that, but this has to end sometime.

Hmmm… never really looked at it that way. I actually just came up with the title because I’m a starwars fan. lol.

I completely see your point SJC. If my company was going in the direction of “Esports” then what the Empire is doing would be completely wrong. However we are not going in the direction of Esports. Read everything on this page. www.empirearcadia.com then you will understand what we’re going for.

Although I’m new to the scene and I appreciate everything Triforce does for the community. I’m glad to live in a state where theres a tournament every two weeks or so. This really gives me a chance to become apart of the community. I just have a few complaints though. The Chinatown scene is gone and I hardly catch anyone from Empire there. It’s difficult to get better since a lot of us dont have the opportunity to session with the top players. Everybody at the Arc is able to play each other and hone their skills while other players (like me for instance) who strive to get better have to wait for these touraments and then pay money for transportation and the tournament itself.

Since when is it the empires duty of level your game up? Try to earn their respect and maybe they will invite you to in house sessions. You are clearly new to the scene. I am too but at least I know everything isn’t handed down on a silver platter

Agent?

Why do you need Triforce as your agent/manager/PR rep? Being the pro-gamer that you are and the fact that everyone in the community knows of your achievements, couldn’t you just manage yourself but still represent EMP? I just watched that documentary trailer about you and sad to say but it seems like you’re a puppet, and the way Triforce talks to you just seems really wrong and unnecessary. I’ve played you at CF before and you’re a nice humble dude, at least from what I gather…so I guess that trailer just doesn’t seem to portray you in the best light all because of Triforce.

You don’t need management or representation. You are management in the fighting game world.

I don’t doubt Triforce has done a lot for the fighting community and he might be a great guy. I think for people that don’t know him our assumption is that he’s got hubris and lives in another dimension (for better or for worse).

Well said. Triforce doesnt make the empire, the empire makes triforce. From what I can tell and I may be completely wrong but the arc just seems like a place to play games, and any other house would be a fine substitute. Do these top players have anything else going on in their life other than games? looks like a bunch of dudes surviving on canned goods and/or ramen playing games acting out scenes from bleach

What do these guys have to fall back on?

I understand you guys are looking out for me and all but its not what you think. Trifroce doesn’t treat me bad and if he did I would leave the Empire. TriForce and I have worked hard on building what he started long before me. I just helped him a lot when it comes to “Fighting” games but there is more to this than what you guys are assuming. Thanks for looking out for my well being because I really appreciate it. Triforce is a cool guy and he is doing what he does to make the Empire what it is and I’m helping him to accomplish his dream.

Wow…this is surely getting out of hand now. Clearly I see now that I’m the most visible target to attack, which is fine. The answer to the question that evades me, is why? Look guys I understand that Justin is the Micheal Jordan of Fighting Games here in the US. No one, not even I would dare dispute that. Empire Arcadia does not service just fighting games. Let’s not turn this into “Destroy” TriForce image or reputation. I’ve taken my lumps 8 years ago when I first came to this community. I’ve been flamed, ridiculed, my ex-wife attacked verbally on this site and all kinds of other personal stuff. I’m no Street Fighter Champion nor am I a master of fighting games. I’ve made no such claim, but what I have done is very significant to this community and there are a lot of dark secrets that I keep with me about this community. No one is perfect and what we do may not always be idea but we do what we can to push forward.

We all do what we have to do to get this community where it needs to be. Perhaps 7 years ago I would be cursing up a storm trying to defend myself but I’ve learned that its just wood to feed the fire. I simply ask that you guys try to see the positive for what Empire Arcadia is doing for this scene and what BattleField Arcadia has brought to New York City. The Empire will continue to do what it does to help the scene grow as a WHOLE; Fighting, Shooting, Racing, Puzzle etc. Let’s focus on the positive turn out of the community here in the Tri-State area and support that. What I do with the Empire and how I live or how people think I live is irrelevant towards the community’s growth which is the GOAL.

I ask, please stop attacking my reputation and pride. If you do not like who I am, or what you think I stand for then you are welcome to not deal with me in any manner. I just ask that you please keep it to yourself and not post flames about me my company and my members in this thread. General discussion is the appropriate thread for this type of trolling. If this continues I am going to request that the Moderator for this forum take the appropriate steps to resolve this matter.

Thank you.

PS: Thanks J for the back up.

All Good

Not trying to attack your reputation. Again, I don’t know you personally. And if JWong is backing you up then obviously you’ve done something right…which is commendable. I think what you are doing for the community is great. Adversely I think the way you market EMP might rub people the wrong way. I’ve played EMP people at CF and honestly the only guys that are respectful to me are Dieminion and Jwong. That’s not to say everyone at CF is picture perfect. I could care less about a lot of those cats too. The issue with some EMP and CF players both is that they look down on semi-pro players like myself. People who have day jobs and don’t have 24 hours a day to practice. Respect those who respect you. So if that attitude is pervasive through your group then it’s not something a lot of people will look up to.

Auto-Demon is a friend and one of the guys at CF that’s actually a normal outgoing guy who doesn’t frown upon less experienced players. He’s the guy that told me to go to tournaments, both him and Noel. They got me into this mess, but the more I learn about the inside culture and the people dominating the scene, the less interesting this has all become.

I’m not trying to hate. I’m just an outside observer. Keep doing what your doing 'cus your events are great. Just don’t turn into the Don King of gaming 'cus that guy is out of control. 'nuff said.

P.S. I’m waiting for another faction of New York to start up fresh, without the drama of EMP and CF. Can’t we all just get along? :wgrin:

This thread is going nowhere fast. Why are people trying to bash on Triforce? Just play the game and buck up. People like Triforce, Bison, Adnan, SweetJohnny and so many others whom run tournaments in NYC should get the most respect from you community members. These tournaments not only are made to promote the game but they get all the competitors better. It’s sad to see that there is so many people in this thread that are typing these long ass responses for no reason. If you don’t like someone honestly it’s a lot more respectful and professional to say it in there face or even privately.

The lack of respect that people have shown in this thread makes me think twice about a lot of people in the SF4 NYC community.

I hope this thread can go more in the path of seeing who is going to show up to the tournament and have a good time rather than bash on others. I’ll be at the tournament. I do hope it starts on time this time =p.

It’s on the way give it some time

It sounds like people are getting all dickhurt for nothing haha

I’ve said what I had to say. Continue running the tournamets because they are always a blast and I’ll continue to tell people about them.

When have I ever said it’s their duty to help me step my game up? I didnt even mean to imply that. Just that, it’s hard for us who work and dont have the opportunity to play some of the best players until the tournament comes.

too much is beginning to pile up for me and my family, so i probly wont be doing any tournaments this month. i wish everyone luck this sunday and to my 5v5 team i hope you guys can get a good replacement for me (aquasilk, shine maybe? ill leave you guys to work that out)

i hope to get back on the scene soon

Didn’t make X because I was sick/busy. Won’t miss this one. Couldn’t we have done this on the 14th though? The 15th is President’s Day, and a day off for most of us who work/school, so you could run more tournaments or more games, maybe run it a little later, without people going, “Man this needs to finish soon, I got work.”

Oh yeah, the Super Bowl also.

I miss pre-console SF4. Those were fun times.

Real talk no one cared for drama. Everyone was just trying to figure out the game and exchange tips and strats.

Okay now that thats over…
I think I might have to come to rep chun. I hope someone from xbl or psn brings the Rose, then we’d have some respect for all the characters in the game (besides Dan).

D-Bus was using Dan so if he comes then we will have the Sakiyo warrior in play. Looking forward to seeing that again.
