Battle by the Bay ; Classic Alpha 2 Tournie 1996

Probably not the first to post this, but I haven’t seen it on here and was a great way to spend some time. Lots of names we still know playing in this.

Some observations I have from the finals;

  1. In Valle’s playstyle and use of Ryu’s Shinkuu Hadouken and Shinkuu Tatsumaki you really see them used much as an EX move in SF 3 or 4 would be. For the Hadouken for instance he uses it to gain an edge in the fireball war. Rather than worry about nailing large damage, he is fine with the one hit he gets on Ken and gaining an advantage.
  2. Valle’s character change to Sagat is brilliant. Him and Choi are basically even and Sagat accentuates where he was winning and covers where he was losing without much need to change how he plays. The Super Tigershot hits cleanly when countering Ken’s Hadoukens whereas Ken could react and block partway through Ryu’s Shinkuu Hadouken. Sagat also seems allot less vulnerable to the Kick Alpha Counter Choi was using as one of his strongest tools.

If i could rep you, i would. but even if i did… my rep is so bad right now it wouldnt help yours at all. :frowning: lol
