Comic Book Resources had a thread that stated the following 3 animated movies-
ALL-STAR SUPERMAN - Spring 2011
GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD KNIGHTS - Summer 2011
BATMAN: YEAR ONE - Fall 2011
The Emerald Knights movie is said to be a prequel to the GL movie.
I’m calling it a RUMOR ATM until I can find some solid info, tho…this seems to confirm All-Star Supes SDCC 2010 ? BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD Panel
Furthermore, here is a list of the supposed shorts to be featured with the movie-
Superman/Captain Marvel
Lobo
Catwoman
Gotham by Gaslight (look it up on Wiki) Booster Gold & Blue Beetle
all-star batman & robin was pretty much the most genius shit ever, frank miller turns batman and co into sin city, and with jim lee penciling? yes please.
it’s only bad if you can’t take it as a joke, which it clearly was. or he is obviously unable to write anything beyond sin city. i mean ffs superman was just standing around bending steel.
Retarded story and retarded artwork are two characteristics that do not describe Sin City. ASBAR is unintentionally funny at times, but other than that, it has no redeeming value. Aside from the shit that flat-out doesn’t make sense, it’s needlessly slow and boring.
Its redeeming value is that it highlights how Frank Miller has run out of insightful things to say about superheroes, and how his interests are now elsewhere. This will enable us to more effectively avoid his mainstream work-for-hire stuff in the future.
i’m not going to say the story was great, it wasn’t (but i did find it humorous). plus you can’t really complain about art when rob liefeld still gets work.
I found All-Star Batman & Robin immensely enjoyable. But yes, it was entirely due to the unintentional humour.
I think between that and The Dark Knight Strikes Again, I fear Miller’s Batman/superhero stories are way to…uh…high brow for me to enjoy properly now. I would be very okay with him retiring from superhero comics forever - he’s done enough good already. Now he’s just fucking around because he can.
I don’t know how an All-Star Superman movie would work. I think it’d just seem oddball and cheesy. I really think that was one story that really took full advantage of the comic book medium - I don’t think it works any other way.
That didn’t stop me from enjoying the Watchmen movie though. It’s not like the movie versions have anything to do with the comic book versions anyway - they are and will remain separate entities.
