Batman: Under the Hood animated movie confirmed, directed by Bruce Timm

WTF, Amazo?!

This isn’t the first DC straight-to-video animated movie directed by Bruce Timm that has Batman and Joker voiced by someone other than Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammil, and it won’t be the last.

It’s not really an issue of unavailability or cost (Conroy and Hammil have always been happy to reprise these roles when asked, and money is not a problem: Conroy has been known to take pay cuts to get his fellow supporting vioce actors hired), but Bruce Timm, with the help of voice director Andrea Romano, purposely look for new voices for these roles in a way to be fresh and find voices that fit the mood of the particular movie, although they have gone back to them from time to time.

And trust me in that Timm and Romano are aware of the large number of fans (myself included) who complain when they dont cast Conroy and Hammil for their iconic roles. It’s not going to change their view: they’re still going to experiment with new voice actors.

Agreed. Anyone else think the Joker laugh near the end sounded incredibly like Hammil’s?

Heh, yeah, he was in the comic arc. Black Mask bought one.

Director: Will we be able to get Kevin and Mark for this one?

Producer: No

Director: Then I guess we won’t be having an animated movie now will we?

Woah, that’s serious business xD

Really…it’s not about bringing Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill.
I just don’t like this voice.

There are other Batman VA’s that I think are great: Rino Romano (The Batman), Deidrich Bader (Brave and the Bold)…I even liked Jeremy Sisto as Batman in The New Frontier.

This particular voice (Bruce Greenwood)…I’m not liking so far.

This new Batman voice makes him seem younger, and he seems just fine until he started doing the whole Dark Knight schtick.

Great movie, at times Bruce Greenwood sounds just like Kevin Conroy.

Nuff said…without those two, the movie just won’t be the same not hearing thier voices.

Kevin Conroy as Batman is undisputedly the best, but I think Deidrich Bader does an excellent job as well.

I don’t get why they had to go with the grunty TDK Bats voice for this one.

Screw the haters, DiMaggio does a pretty good Joker.

Man the one line Batman says in that trailer sounds almost like Conroys. Whats with the bitching? That Joker Laugh was pretty fuckin spot on to.

Everyone’s bitching because they have a huge hard on for Conroy and Hamill. I like them as much as the next person but i’m always up for someone else doing the dark knights voice just for a change of pace.

I find it funny that the Joker voice from “The Batman: Animated series” is now Generic Bad Black Guy #1. I never really liked that dude as the Joker..

I am very curious how Dimaggio will sound like as the Joker. This Batman voice doesn’t sound too bad. I can manage. Red Hood has a good voice too. Very interested in this film!

You might wanna add Doctor Strange to that list.

Watching this right now. Will have impressions.

EDIT - The DC Animated movies have ranged from terrible (Doomsday, Public Enemies) to just okay (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern). Under the Red Hood breaks the trend by being the first one that’s actually really good!

I won’t post spoilers, and honestly I suspect most people on SRK and in this thread in particular already know the big reveals, but it’s all executed very well. Every scene has purpose, exposition is mostly absent (one scene has too much of it), extraneous plot points just aren’t there, the dialog is sharp, the voices are great – it just all works. The 75 minute run time didn’t hurt it this time: nothing felt rushed. Highly recommended.

i’ve had this on my computer for about a week, time to fire this bad boy up!

Better then Gotham Knight? that was great except forthe first story and the art in that first story also sucked. I like the dc art shown in the trailer but the anime style fits soo much better IMO.

Gotham Knight sucked hard. The piece of shit had like two good stories, which were Working Through Pain and the one with Deadshot.
