After what he did with Conan he should be lucky he is still alive let alone getting the chance to fuck up (well lets face it Batman/WW/Lex got there first) another franchise.
He already fucked up. He turned down being Drax in Guardians. He could have been making that Marvel money but now stick being apart of a potential turd.
I just don’t get what they are going for. All the pictures for this movie are in black and white, or are super saturated in a really dim depressing color. This is a comic book movie, where the fuck is the color? Where the fuck is the fun? That’s why the Marvel movies keep building hype for each new one, they are colorful, and they look fun to go see.
Nothing I have seen for Batman Vs Superman looks fun or exciting or anything but sad and depressing, and super serious business. Sure doesn’t make me want to go see it
It seems to me that DC is regressing to superhero films pre-Iron Man where all of them were dark colored, humorless, took themselves too seriously and reduce as much as the comic book influence as possible. None of those films barring X-Men, Blade and Spider-Man are memorable or well-liked.
Burton mixed a great OST with great characters, masterful Joker and Penguin and kept it serious but camp as well. He pulled it off without needing 100m CG bill.
If Dark Knight didnt happen nobody would give a shit about the new trilogy compared to the old Burton movie except for kids that dont know better tbh.
My issue with Begins is that they make it that anybody can be Batman if your loaded. The training segment was crap, the fighting in general was crap. I guess I was expecting a more visceral rockstar esque experiance where they show the man becoming something so bad ass he can take on 20 guys at once and kick down walls n shit, instead it was some ninja sword fighting and the crazy plant that conveniently was the main plot device of the whole film. Oh yea and Katie Holmes was in it.
Still thought it was a good movie just outdone by its sequel which imo improved on literally everything, then they piss it all away with the DKR.
The only complaint I have with the Nolan movies is that Batman never became a detective in those movies. All the detective stuff was handled by Gordon.
Even other adaptions of Batman had no issue showing him as a detective. B:TAS showed Bats as a detective first and foremost. It also there in Justice League, The Batman and even Brave and the Bold.
