If Supes NEEDS Lois to feel like there’s a reason to stick around and help people, that really devalues him as a hero imo. He should stick around earth and protect it because it’s his home, and he wants to, and his sense of justice an shit.
If Lois dies or whatever, and he just fucks off and leaves, then he clearly didn’t think much of earth and it’s inhabitants in the first place yea?
Yaaaaaaaay 30 something year old Supergirl instead of the hottest tightest blond I could possibly want to challenge my cock for the ultimate battle of her lifetime.
Yea but that is different. That’s outliving everything and everyone you cared for, finding a successor, and leaving the world in good hands. Everyone above was talking “without Lois he has no reason to stay!!!” and him just going 'alright peace all, don’t care what happens to you, I’ma find somewhere else to live because my girl friend kicked the bucket."
These two situations aren’t really the same. Everyone deserves to retire after a job well done.
It’ not a 180 tho, I feel we are talking about two different things here. I’m talking about his girlfriend being killed, not dieing of old age, but being killed by someone and leaving because now he has no apparent ties to earth anymore, while you’re talking about him outliving everyone, leaving the world in the hands of someone he trusts enough to call his heir, and retiring to his bungalow in the sun and catchin rays.
Those are two wildly different situations don’t you think? I feel like you’re seeing apples and calling them oranges right now.
Him leaving earth because Lois is killed makes it seem like he’s only staying on earth and protecting it because Lois is there, instead of because he thinks Earth and it’s inhabitants are worth protecting, which was always my understanding of the situation, but thing in comic change so fast, maybe that’s not the case now (or never was and I had the wrong idea)?
Isn’t that from Injustice, a huge “what if” scenario? Injustice even kind of proves my point, as Joker kills Lois, Superman loses his shit, and basically becomes king asshole of the universe and starts killing everyone who doesn’t tow the line, right?
tons of other scenario’s where Supes thought she was dead, and wasn’t on his best behaviour.
Doesn’t change the fact that once his generation of meatbags is dead and in the ground, he feels he has no reason to really stay on Earth. Handing it down to descendants or not, the most powerful man in the Universe taps out when he loses his loved ones.
I hope Guy Gardner starts feeding it to Lois, each and every night. Green Lantern dildos just comboing her into submission.
Injustice Superman to a tee. Injustice is it’s own universe not a “what if”.
There was an episode of Superman:TAS where Lois traveled to the future and ended up in future Metropolis where Supes and Luthor ruled the city like North Korea. Supes reason for working with Luthor was believing Lois died in the incident that sent her to the future. Supes has a history of abandoning his principles when she dies.
yeah much better that the world’s strongest woman needs the world’s strongest man, pretty much destroying a huge chunk of her image.
I bet you thumbs up’d OMIT too.
It would have been better if they just permanently gave Lois superpowers. I mean, billions of other people involved with the Justice League get them eventually. Why not make Lois a superwoman?
Again, all this “Superman can’t live without Lois” is just a writing angle. Alternate versions don’t exactly count because they’re all about exploiting that relationship for a crazy twist in Supes personality.
Lois and his parents do tie him to that, but it’s not like he can’t meet other people who bring about that same sense of hope and love. Even if Supes had lost Lois in a tragic situation, him leaving town or the planet to grieve wouldn’t make him bad. Hell, if anything it makes him more human considering how emotional he would be, and how many humans would do the same if they had his power. Normal people grieve, sometimes leave their home, and take some time to sort things out right? Why would Superman doing something similar make things worse?
It’s one thing for Superman to grieve in a healthy way, and it’s another for him to become a totalitarian psycho on a warpath. But that’s something we could say for any hero whose overwhelmed by grief, but the man of steel gets more attention because of his tremendous amount of superpowers and positivity he holds (an skeptical audience who wants to see him knocked-off his perceived high horse).
So much this seriously people read a few issues of superman/WW Its one of the greatest things to come from new 52 it may be my favorite relationship centric thing ever done.
