Well, good to hear about the hero shows not sucking…now I just have to wait for them to do something with a character I give half a fuck about.
The books are starting to address some of supes issues mos borrowed some what they used to succeed, where they strayed and reverted into old shit is where they failed.
Mainly Lois, Supermans attachment to Lois is quite possibly the worst thing about the character. Superman is about truth and justice. Lois lane is a leech.
She for a long lime has been blatantly portayed as a fame whore, and completely indifferent to people who, like Clark, want the right thing done, then magically for plot reasons, shes a good person and does the right thing, and is concerned, whenever he’s Superman and the worlds in danger and it just so happens to fall on Lois to get things done. Now that the Superman Wonder Woman relationship has been a thing, its better for all parties involved WW doesn’t have a weak beta stalker boyfriend, Superman isn’t pining for some cheap journalist as Clark. WW and Supes even on an individual level seem more fleshed out as characters in the new continuity because neither is wasting time trying to better people who at their core are shitty. Its better for those supporting characters too Trevors gone full “if I was invisible” and Lois might as well be a gawker journo blogger whatever they call themselves, they aren’t full on rotten but more dynamic for sure.
This is where I hope they take the future of the movies, because not only is supes/WW better for all individual characters but its a hell of a lot better for JLA stories since you can keep the focus on team dynamic and still have romance subplot
yeah, it was such a great idea to get rid of one of the most important things tying Superman to Earth. It’s not like losing her before, didn’t cause him to oh I dunno, become a totalitarian dictator or anything like that.
How you figure that? If anything killing off his romance with a human just frees him up to do whatever he wants. I mean sure kill of Lois Lane cause shes a shit character but replacing her with the ultimate cheese ie WW is some bullshit. Infact if he were to be truly noble he would forgo all this romance bullshit altogether and be one of these self sacrificing own happiness niggas so there is no distractions.
Lane should have been written out years ago after anyways after Reeves had to turn back time cause bitches cant drive for shit.
I disagree on the whole “Superman is a better off with Wonder Woman” situation.
Superman’s biggest defining characteristic is his love of humanity, his parents and the woman he loves is what ties him to that. It’s what makes his villains more interesting, whether they have tremendous amounts of power like Supes but lack the morality, or are humans themselves but represent the worse aspects of the humanity.
The problem is who writes these characters, and how they suck at making them work. I’m sure there are comic arcs/issues where Superman and Lois’ relationship is actually healthy, but the writers doing their absolute worse and taking the Supes/WW easy route doesn’t help.
Outside of the comics I’d say Smallville’s representation of Lois is good, does she get herself into messy situations like previous incarnations? Sure she does, but she’s a military brat with a background in martial arts. That means means she doesn’t need as much saving unless it’s machine-gun levels of fucked. Is she a bit of narcissistic wild child? Yeah, but not to an extremely shitty degree. But throughout all of that you see how being around Clark affects her for the better, you see how they progress into being more than friends, and deal with Lois struggling to love both the man and hero.
Same thing goes for Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor. Wanna know how good of a relationship they have, and why he works so well with her? See the animated Wonder Woman movie and then you’ll know how it should be done.
I’d argue the best writers for these heroes are the ones who understand that dynamic. If they explore the powerhouses as a couple then that’s cool, but do it with depth. Explore why they may seem like an obvious match, but may not actually work as well as everyone would think. They could break-up in the end, but it should serve to reinforce why they’re in love with other people instead.
Supes was so willing to help us and stand by us, that he was willing to love and marry one of us, and eventually have a child. Now he has no ties besides Martha Kent, who has now basically become Aunt May. When she inevitably dies of old age in no time, what reason does he REALLY have to even stay on Earth, or maintain his disguise, or any of that?
To finally have a chance of a intimate relationship with Bruce with no one judging.
I think Lois is just redone to be more contemporary. Journalists these days worry more about reporting news people will read rather than breaking stories. There’s nothing wrong with her reflecting that nor does that make her an attention whore.

The problem is that Lois has always been in love with superman and not Clark. I don’t think she has a role in his life anymore as a romantic interest just because she doesn’t evoke a sense of sincerity of legitimate love to superman as a person. It seems she’s more in love with the idea of superman as opposed to the man behind the name. I think Diana or Lana make a much better fit just because they actually appreciate him on a personal level.
