There’s another obvious reason.
Comic writers and such can be a lot more hands on when it comes to Animated Features.
I never thought about that. The animated division has actual comic writers and people involved with the source material directly interacting with the scripts and creative process. The moves are all corporate with people who either don’t read comics or hate them (Nolan) responsible for their creation.
For DC to have a good live action movie nowadays would take nothing less than Richard Donner back at the helm, shit he had Superman a humble heroic self sacrificing hero! He fucked up once by making Lex Luthor a car salesman type dude but we can forgive that shit cause it was the 70s/80s.
Between Superman nowadays typically as an asshole in the comics and new directors cant help emselve to a large dose of fucking up… its not looking good.
Just be grateful in this era of comic book movies we had Watchmen and Guardians of the Galaxy, it was more than we deserved.
