When and if a Batman/Superman fight is shown on the big screen— just that added factor of it being live action will, imo, point out just how ridiculous it is if/when Batman actually “wins”. I am sure there would be numerous eye-rolls and “oh come ON.” reactions from people in theaters everywhere. Really, I am a fan of both characters but the shit (the notion of Batman beating him with any kind of consistency) is almost as silly as Superman turning the world around so he could reverse time to save Lois in the old movie. The only really acceptable way out of it to me is that (1) you never have them fight each other in the first place OR (2) you have some increasing tension or whatever but they get interrupted by something more important like taking out the super-villain that is currently threatening the world.

If you remove kryptonite from the equation it’s much harder to deal with superman. Can’t he shrug magic off, too? He’s a god amongst insects and that’s never fun.

Magic, kryptonite, tits and his mercy used to be his typical weaknesses, I think he just plot armors through everything now though.
Superman’s vulnerable to magic in most incarnations, not weak towards it tho, if I recall correctly.
Sounds kind of like what made the old one ridiculous. Superman should have always been vulnerable to something. Know why no one writes stories about God? He’s OP and any story containing him will be unbelievable. That’s why even the bible had others like Moses, Abraham, and Noah. Hell, even when he made an appearance it was a watered down version called Jesus just so it can be a little believable and captivating.
That overpoweredness is why I’ve always hated Superman. That and his bullshit “oh I’ll pretend this hurts” bullshit.
My only gripe with superman is that his powers come from the Sun 
and that he belittles legit powerhouses like Lobo, Orion and Marvel who should be able to ace him np, are suddenly not on his level cause of plot armor. Then you got the Daxamites who are the same deal… its like damnit, somebody come up with a decent retcon already.

Pre-52 I always remember superman and Orion stalemating each other…in fact in their first encounter didn’t orion one-shot him with the astral force?
DC was actually very consistent with portraying them both as near equals cause in most cases their fights are inconclusive. The only time this changed was in the new 52 when supes actually got the edge on him.

Nah I’m taking in consideration the strength of Ben Affleck’s recent work, I have enough confidence in him to play any role provided he has some creative control.
But yeh Josh Brolin would just be perfect.
