How to fix the movie: Have Zack Snyder Apologize and offer to give the moviegoers back their money, then cut to animated Dark Knight Returns.
There’s so much going on wrong with this movie.

People seem to not understand that MoS Zod had all of Superman’s powers, along with a long as fuck military career, where MoS Superman is still new to all this shit.
Even in the Comics Zod is a giant ass threat, and both him and Superman are near equals in combat prowess. A fight between two world breakers isn’t going to cause a small commotion. It’s going to fuck up a lot of shit.
Hell, the damage done in MoS is still pretty small considering everything. It could have been a lot worse, but only a small section actually got fucked hard.

They should’ve shown Supes trying to save people. Even if it meant showing him fail, it would’ve been something to get the audience to connect with this guy. Him being focused on the fight while being completely disconnected to anything else was a major turn off, regardless of it making logical sense.
By that logic, Zod should have wrecked Superman’s shit.
You have to dance pretty hard to pretend that him killing Zod was meaningful after the CGI destruction porn they’d done to Metropolis. If Superman really did care, lives would have mattered to him before then. They left character development out of the battle scene, and so the abrupt emotionality when he kills Zod is out of left field and punchless. Hopefully they can find a heart in future JLA movies, because they’ve been just horrible so far.

A green and young Superman is always pretty reckless. It is not surprising that MoS Superman is like the way he is in MoS.

MoS Superman did not have Comic book Ma and Pa Kent growing up. He had ones that pretty much told him he’s a monster.
3)Superman’s development happened in between MoS and BvS. He was affected by the shit that happened in MoS. Easily shown when the building exploded with him in it, and was devastated by it.
MoS Superman isn’t perfect. He’s not even close, but it is also pretty difficult to do Superman right in the idea of world Snyder wants to. You won’t see Snyder adding a scene of Superman just visiting kids because they sent him a letter, or see him putting drawings that kids drew for him on his fridge in the fortress of solitude, or even rescuing a cat from a tree. It just won’t happen. Snyder want’s a grim dark version of everything. In terms of that its not a far off depiction of it, but is it the true Superman? No. It’s Snyders idea of “What if Superman was real,” and its not actually that far off to how it would go in real life.
Trying to bring in how comic versions of characters would do it compared to Snyder versions is just asking to be hurt. Snyder has a different view and goes for realism, while comics go for how the character is, and it works because they aren’t trying to be realistic. Its why Superman can spend an entire day with a suicide jumper and nothing happens else where in the city.
Best way to deal with Snyders films is go in expecting a different view on the characters. Don’t expect them to be their comic counter parts. Expect them to have a chip on their shoulder, and kinda irritable. It’s how Snyder thinks they would be in a real world setting, and he’s probably not wrong. You can only take doing the Superhero gig for so long before you just get tired of people being ungrateful, wanting you dead/gone, and just dealing with super villains and people who keep doing crime constantly.

I want a Superman that smiles and inspires hope… I want when Big Blue shows up, who does everything he can to fix things, and makes everyone smile and say to themselves, ***“It’s going to be okay, Superman’s here”***… Not this scowling, red-eyed alien that tears shit up just because and makes everyone say to themselves, "Oh fuck, HE’S here… We’re even more screwed."
No one thinks that in BvS though.
They should, because nearly every time Supes shows up, a looooot of shit gets broken, and he never stops to save any civilians from battle damage.

There was nothing Supes could’ve done about that though. He had to stop Zod, and if that meant some people had to die while they smashed each other’s chests in then that’s what had to happen. He was fighting someone just as strong as him, I don’t think he had much say in where they fought.
The scene where he kills Zod was emotional because he had just killed he last of his kind with his own bare hands, not because he was distraught over taking another life. I thought that was obvious.

Oh, you mean the little montage of Super-Jesus looking mighty disdainful of having to rescue flood victims and the little girl from the fire? Being more concerned about his PR than just doing good?

You are trying to have it both ways. You can’t try to portray those characters into a realistic setting while making none of them act like real human beings.
I thought we were in a world where comic book movies weren’t afraid to be comic books, especially after Avengers happened. I get what Snyder is doing, but to strip this Superman of all the classic elements that make Superman Superman is ridiculous. Even more so when they are effectively telling us “This is the definitive version of these characters you are going to see on the big screen. Deal with it”. He fucking killed Jimmy Olsen offscreen for the lolz.
We know DC doesn’t want to be known as bootleg Marvel, but to do this? Because of some hack’s vision? Half the fun in the comics is how the tone of the same world can swing wildly just from switching books. I get nothing but disrespect vibes from Snyder. The idea that simply adapting the decades old material simply not working, so they need to “fix it”, is laughable.
I doubt anyone signed for this. Pretty sure most just wanted to see a live action version of the DCU with all the crap we had to endure during years filtered out.
Add in the technical issues with the movie and we got a gigantic clusterfuck that niggas are having to write essays to defend.
Oh, and before throwing “Sad Supes after the Senate explosion” at me, think about this: This nigga got super-hearing and super-speed. He just murked a terrorist pointing a gun at Lois before he could pull the trigger. You telling me this dude couldn’t hear the detonator, and speed his ass over to Tiny Tim and cover him with his invulnerable hide, protecting everyone?
See, this is why thinking about this movie’s plot angers me further… In addition to all the character assassination, NOTHING else in it makes any goddamn sense.
I was about to type pretty much the exact same thing. His involvement in saving people doesn’t make any sense. Maybe we don’t need Super Boy Scout Reeves, but at least have it make sense why he’s doing what he’s doing. If you’re going to take some weird paths with the character, maybe explain a little more as opposed to leaving us baffled as to why anybody is doing what they are doing.
Some interview described the movie as Snyder mashing his Batman and Superman action figures against each other. I kinda agree. Hopefully Goyer or whomever the bad apple is gets kicked off the project. I want the JLA movie to rock.
I disagree here. This is a core tenant of being a super hero. Getting out of a heavily populated place and making damage minimal. Unless Superman doesn’t care and/or is just a soldier/villain/merc. Cuz soldiers are okay with collateral damage.
