I addressed this in my original post. Lex was holding Superman’s mom in a place unknown to both of them. Yes, if this were a superhero that was anyone but Superman, this would be a big deal. But WE SAW SUPERMAN SAVE LOIS FROM A GROUP OF GUNMEN IN THE MIDDLE OF A FUCKING DESERT HALFWAY ACROSS THE WORLD. We saw him save her AGAIN when she fell down the side of a building OUT OF NOWHERE. Lex said he would kill Martha if he tried to do anything to save her…and yet, we’re ignoring the fact that he was able to travel halfway around the world and save Lois while that dude actively had a gun pressed up against her head? And the dude that was gonna kill Martha didn’t even have a gun, he had a goddamn flame thrower. In what world is fire faster than a bullet?
If you’re ok with this part of the movie, you’re pretty much saying you’re ok with a giant arbitrary plothole in the story. If Supes can hear basically anything at any point in the entire world and respond to it in SECONDS, there’s no reason he couldn’t have saved his mother EXACTLY like he saved Lois Lane. He had NO reason to even bother himself with Batman.
Except he didn’t. That was all Zod and the kryptonians he brought with him to earth. You could argue that it’s Superman’s fault that they came there in the first place to look for him, but seeing as how he crash landed on our planet as a BABY I don’t see how he had much choice there.
Fair enough point, although you would think Bruce would be more of a “big picture” guy in this scenario. Bruce has never personally met Superman at this point. All he has to go off of is what he’s seen in the media and whatever intel he’s managed to scavenge on him. You’d think there would at least be some kind of talk between the two before he decides that Supes just needs to die.
The poetry in it? Naw, I can’t agree with that. Just because dumb shit happens in comics doesn’t mean this same dumb shit is excused when it happens in a film.
shrug It shouldn’t really matter to you who were my favorite characters in the movie. This is mostly irrelevant to whatever point you’re trying to make. I’m not gonna sit here and try to convince you to like the characters I like, and it really shouldn’t matter to you so much that I ended up liking him either.
Probably because I’m pretty disconnected from the character in the first place, so I don’t have a very firm or established idea of what he SHOULD be like as a character. But whatever that pre-established character is, I liked the twist Eisenburg brought to it. It wasn’t what I expected but ultimately I was very entertained.
Eisenberg wasn’t Luthor. He was basically the Riddler with a big budget and some added genetics and robotics know-how.
Not. Luthor.
I got some Superman(related) comics for you nihonjins to read:
"Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow"
“All-Star Superman”
“Superman: Red Son”
“What’s so Funny about Truth, Justice, and the American Way?”
“Superman: Unchained”
"Superman: Birthright"
And for a better version of this stupid movie:
“Lex Luthor: Man of Steel”***- Features exactly what would happen if Batman was dumb enough to pick a fight with Superman
If wack-ass Snyder and Goyer had bothered to actually read any of these stories, we might have gotten a slightly better movie…
I don’t mind that you have a raging lusty hard-on for this movie, but please stop being a dick to anybody else who doesn’t share your opinion. It’s kinda gross.
i mean animated dark knight returns is a better movie than this, even has “i dont give a shit anymore batman” and probably the MANLIEST batman scenes and fights in history
Im not being a dick. We kinda talk to each other like this all the time, mod who comes around once in a blue moon. Dont pop up in the past 7 days and act like you with the shits. People rail each other on this forum all the time, we get over it, and keep it moving.
No ones actually crying or slitting our wrist over this shit. Stop acting like you new to this shit.
@“The Martian” Eh, superman doesnt stop every crime ever. It makes sense that hes hovering around lois, knowing she is going to the desert to talk to a terrorist. It makes sense that he catches lois after she got kidnapped, and batman is blaring his symbol in the sky like 5 miles from where they stand.
Like superman said when the capitol blew up with him in it. I didnt see it because i was wasnt looking for it. He wasnt looking for anyone to kidnap his mom. He didnt even know anyone knew who his mother was except lois.
I mean, a movie doesnt have to explain every detail to you, and they never do. Ever. Your favorite tv shows and movies dont do this. Why does bvs have to. I see what youre saying, but it makes sense when you think about it more.
I had some tweaks for the BvS, movie starts with the beginning of the fight then goes back 2 years earlier with the Zod incident.
Should have kept Eisenberg as Jimmy Olsen, then have Jimmy be the amputee who lost his legs in the Zod incident. Jimmy hates Supes for losing his legs, instantly Clark and Lois becomes more relevant to the movie as Clark struggles with dealing with his actions everyday he comes to work, Lois plays a big part in Jimmy’s life getting through his physical trauma. Supes realizes he can’t save everyone, Lois helps him tune out most of the world.
Lex finds out Clark is Supes, uses Jimmy as his pawn, makes a kryptonian wheelchair bomb, kaboom. World believes Supes killed everyone.
Lex and Bruce Wayne having partnered in rebuilding Metropolis extend their partnership further by creating alien deterrents, Bruce knows Lex is unstable and steals the tech from him. Triggered by the bombing, Bruce has his visions of Supes killing and worse to come, he is convinced he needs to put Supes down or at least make him fear the Batman. Lex figures out Bruce is Batman but uses this as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.
The finale concludes Batman versus Superman fight from the beginning of the movie, Batman kills Supes. Later Bruce finds out out it was a bomb not Supes that killed everyone in the committee. Alfred shares some wise words at Clark’s funeral, Bruce agrees to stop killing people because if he gets it wrong this is what happens. End.
Post credits Batman confronts Lex, learns of other metas and Darkseid through Lex interrogation.
Pros - no Doomsday, no shoehorned WonderWoman appearance, Lois actually useful, Jimmy used to make Clark face is actions and inactions(MoS), Jason Alexander Billy Zane as Lex with no convoluted evil plans.
It’s not about that. I’ve talked to tons of people that seemingly hate the idea that Superman is a character that is meant to inspire you to be better.
For some bizarre reason, it seems to rub people the wrong way.
