I think it’s a shame. I wish BvS was a better movie. We’d be talking about it and what’s next for the DCEU. I mean how do you fuck up Batman v Superman?
It’s nowhere near as bad is is being suggested. Not actually bad at all.
It’s definitely got scripting and pacing issues.
Spoiler
Any scene that involved a dream/vision from either Bats or Supes should have been cut.
It had the wrong outcome in the Batman vs Superman showdown.
Wonder Woman was shoehorned in (though her portrayal was good, and she is smoking hot) and the rest of the cameos were unnecessary. The initial reveal was enough.
I liked Lex in this and thought it was a decent portrayal of the character.
Affleck is a good Bruce Wayne and probably the best Batman we’ve seen.
Batman’s fight scene in the warehouse is better than every fight scene in the Nolan trilogy combined and is exactly what a Batman fight scene should look like.
Doomsday was a lot better than expected.
Cavill is a decent Superman, but a terrible Clark Kent, but again that’s probably down to scripting and direction.
Spoiler
The line “I’m a friend of your son’s.” should not have been said. Should have been more along the lines of “Your son sent me to protect you.”
I just watched this movie yesterday. Overall I think it was just ok. Nothing spectacular but not really terrible as well. Most of my complaints have probably already been answered in this thread but I do have one question, [details=Spoiler]what was up with Lois being psychic? Why did she think that the kryptonite spear she threw away would be useful when she saw the explosion?[\spoiler]
i think thats prob sumtin thats explained in the 3 hour thing. it seems like she pretty much figured out lex’s plans to manipulate superman…so its pretty easy to guess she knew sumtin about the kryptonite as well. also batman was about stab the shit outta superman with it…so thats pretty easy to assume sumtins up when you indestructible boyfriend looks like 125 pound dude fighting brock lesnar in prison.
In fairness, it was already established at this point that the crashed Kryptonian ship was powering up. Doesn’t take much to put two and two together and decide that the big monster fighting the three heroes was Kryptonian.
Overall I liked the movie, but the plot holes and ill-timed dreams were horrible.
Like someone said above, I have no idea how Lois suddenly knew they needed the Kryptonite spear. Same thing about Superman and the sun.
The dream scenes initially had me thinking the plot was going to be much deeper than it actually was. I understand they wanted to set up for future movies, but they were simply unnecessary. They took me out of the flow of the story (or lack thereof) that was already being told.
Original Batman V Superman script from 2002 if you missed it
Somehow even more convoluted than BvS 2016
HISHE raise a good point (not sure I buy it completely) “The night is always darkest before the dawn” to explain why there is so little joy in this movie.
I think I will pass on this turd after seeing this thread and watching the red letter review of the film. I was never very hype because Snyder is gonna Snyder. I enjoyed his Watchman movie, but his style worked for those characters better than Superman.
