I hope they go with a Superman villain as the big threat. A Batman villain could work but there would have to be a good reason and he would have to be a big threat. The animated Superman/Batman movie kinda’ sucked and made no sense. Yeah, Superman is just going to casually ignore the Joker holding a chunk of Kryptonite because he has a lead suite on. Right…
The Joker always makes Superman look stupid though… Everytime they’ve met, Clark underestimates how unpredictable and sadistic the Joker is and pays for it. The Joker takes advantage of his optimism and trusting nature.
It’s really funny to him that this godlike being tries so hard to be human… hence why the Joker claims he has more fun screwing with Supes than Bats on their brief encounters.
Zimmer has succeeded Williams as the superstar of the film composing world. He has carte blanche to do anything he wants.
Yet no matter what the movie is about, his response is always, “Hey, I know what’ll be appropriate for this… pounding percussion! Huge brass! Electronic backing! Gold, Jerry, gold!” He could score an adaptation of the diary of Anne Frank and still find a reason to combine full size percussion and brass sections with an electric guitar.
And that makes zero sense. I’m not going to go through Wiki’s here but isn’t it an established fact at this point that the Joker is the most insane and unpredictable serial killer/super villain in the DCU? So why in the fuck would Superman just casually assume he’s a pushover?
Because the Joker’s unpredictability in most cases is an informed trait. If you don’t know how to write a genuinely unpredictable character, your only recourse is to have other characters be all like “DAMN I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING.”
Kind of like how Batman’s purported battle genius usually comes down to him knowing everything about everyone and having every gadget he needs ahead of time.
He is very intuitive at least when written properly considering he is a fairly respected reporter. The problem is that DC doesn’t want to make joker look useless…it’s no different then when kingpin constantly bested Peter in h2h fights.
Putting all of these characters in the same universe was retarded to begin with. DBZ level villains fuck with metropolis all day but Gotham just happens to get the ones that Batman can beat? come on now, DCU never made sense to me at all
As skeptical as I am for Days of Future Past, I’m even more skeptical about this movie…
How is this even going to work? Introduce a new Batman who will never live up to the iconic portrayal by Christian Bale who everyone considers to be the definitive Batman? Bring back Bale and completely negate The Dark Knight Rises in its entirety (which would also make it the third fucking time hes come back from retirement)?
Superman himself hasn’t even been fully developed as a character yet, why the hell is he spending his second movie sharing the screen with another superhero who has arguably more gravitas than he does?
This is just a bad idea.
I mean I’m still going to see it Day 1, but it’s a bad idea. Also that logo looks ugly.
