funny story. i met a comic writer on a bus trip to a prowrestling show, stayed in touch over the years…fast forward about 10 yrs…now he writes on agent carter.
The thing is Jimmy, yeah Marvel made plenty of mistakes. The thing is that it LEARNED from those mistakes on pretty much all fronts. That’s all we can expect from Film Producers. If they make mistakes or troubling movies, you hope that they can learn from the issues and make improvements going forward.
The issue with DC is Marvel basically gave them the roadmap to learn from so they could start all cylinders firing and they’re STILL risking running into those same exact mistakes. All because they have no faith that BATMAN VS SUPERMAN of all things can stand on its own. All of this is because DC is not confident in the least.
Canon matters as that’s the whole reason why the characters get their own movies. No need to waste time introduced characters and their origins as you know who they are. Events from other movies shape how the others turn out. And no, the DC TV don’t allow for fans to get acquainted with the characters as none the characters from the shows sans Flash will appear in the movies. Few characters that do will be nothing like their TV counterparts. Like Deadshot was a no nonsense white guy with an eyepatch and personal rival to Ollie’s best friend to Will Smith on the big screen.
TV viewing is changing. I guarantee you if dudes what the option between watching the Flash every week or bulge on an entire season at their own pace they will chose the latter. Jessica Jones and Daredevil do shit all over Arrow.
Being important is not the point. The purpose of AoS and Agent Carter is to build the MCU. It’s supplementary material they will make watching the movies better for having known about it.
Actually DC making inroads in doing the stupidest shit imaginable…
Making a Batman vs Superman movie competely unattractive to anyone who’s even glanced at a comic book, the complete clusterfuck that is keeping their TV and movie universes seperate, the hilariously bad casting decisions and writing…
They are basically the Sega of comic book movies-- Finding every way possible to fuck up what should be slam dunks and then trotting out Batman’s tired ass like he’s Sonic anytime it looks like the public is about to call them out on their shit.
DC likes to assume that their audience are morons that can’t handle more than one version of a character. If they are hell bent on separating movies and TV there would be no need for embargoes. Arrow should have held on to it’s Suicide Squad.
That would be fine, but WB/DC insist on taking characters away from TV that are going to be in movies, because they are afraid of the superior TV show writers showing up their shitty movie studio counterparts.
Bat-Embargo ring a bell?
Yes, I’m still pissed we got cheated out of Nightwing and Bat-Villians not named Joker or Clayface in JLU.
No i dont. Not anymore that most people on this forum do. No one watches marvel tv shows outside of netflix, and im always one of the first here to update those netflix marvel threads with how great the shows are, and im a lot more lenient on marvel movies people hate, short of the one they love cap 2.
I’m actually more pro marvel than most people here. I only really shit on one movie, and i like a few that arent as popular here.
LOL, thats my excuse.
Soooo, whats yours?
How has DC shown it is not confident in BvS? DC jumped off to a pretty great start with man of steel imo. America has some weird issue with superman anyways. If hes not some perfect, silver age version of superman, saving everyone, thrusting his bulging cock into fan boys faces every 4 seconds, announcing how selfless he is, everyones like, OMG HOW SHITTY IS THIS MOVIE. lol
I can pick out the problems with man of steel on one hand, and none of them are that egregious.
DC cinema fans are unfortunately some of the most cynical mofos ever. Its really strange. Maybe the brooding nature of nolan styled dc movies are getting to people. Need to lighten shit up. lol.
I think DC has characters that too many people are obsessed with, that they will never find happiness in those characters on screen. Maybe DC shouldve jumped off with the flash instead of man of steel, with no nolan interference to lighten the mood. lol
Fans are acquainted with DC characters. Theyve had cartoons on since i was in fucking high school. Multiple animated movies a year. 4 tv shows now. If you dont know who the jla is at this point, oh well, google them. Canon shit is the least of anyones concern right now. For those that do not watch the cartoons, im sure the tv shows will eventually introduce other characters before Justice League comes out 3 years from now. lol. Thats 3 more seasons to introduce snippets of other characters if they want too.
But even if they dont, it doesnt matter. The tv shows get people acquainted. They end up googling one thing, learning about another, then buying maybe some comics, or even illegally downloading. Think of the tv shows as a gateway drug, and theyre clearly doing their job as such.
I definitely disagree that outside of the desire to know, its more epic to be able to binge watch a show than that delicious wait for it to come back every week. Thats like saying id rather get pussy 12 times in 3 days for limited sessions and then nothing for a year, vs getting pussy once a week for six months, and its even better than that 12 shot pussy could be, because she has more time to ride the dick (24 episodes or so) and make every moment count. Dont be absurd, jessica jones and daredevil dont shit on arrow, even with a mediocre season 3, and a down the middle season 4.
I don’t see how what he’s describing is any different from what Marvel has been doing with it’s shared universe. This sounds exactly the same, except the TV shows for DC get fucked when the movies need someone, while Marvels shows and offshoots work in harmony together (mostly).
its not exactly the same at all. the exception makes it not exactly the same. Movie characters guest star in the tv shows. Plot lines from the movies directly affect whats going on with the shows…this makes it not exactly the same at all. As well as the multiverse with dc means its the biggest copout in trope history. But its a very dc copout…its the fuckin 52 bullshit all over again.
“wally exists…the books of him are still there to read…so he exists…in your heart.” nah fuck you nigga…fuck you and fuck barry boring ass allen.
