Batman/Superman movie announced for 2016

You mean the “Shit on DC Movies” thread? :coffee:

Yeah pretty much. If they stopped sucking dick with casting choices I’d probably stop saying theyre sucking dick with casting choices.

They kinda deserve the shit.

Yeah one of the few bad things the DCAU did WAS fucking up Doomsday because he was just in two episodes and was irrelevant for both other than the whole Justice Lord bullshit. He really had no reason to be used for that.

Nah man… Fuck Doomsday.

I’m not his biggest fan either which is why his appearances were a waste. For the DCAU who made damn near every character they touched awesome, they actually found a way to make Doomsday worse.

I don’t think they had an real use for Doomsday at that point in JL/JLU.

They already had an episode loosely based on the Death of Superman story.

can anybody explain to me why they couldn’t use this as an excuse to bring in Bizarro instead? I’d completely accept him being a genetic deviation from Zod’s corpse. But this? This just cements the fact that DC is trying to rush things.

I am serious curious what happens if/when BvS comes out and it does terrible.

Zod as bizarro would be extremely redundant. Using kryptonian dna to make doomsday as a back drop to all the other shit going on in the movie makes more sense.

BvS cant do terrible. Man of steel got very little attention, and they didnt even drop the first official trailer for it until like 3-4 months before its release. They sat on the comic con trailer for FOREVER (like over a year), and didnt release anything in the interim. Then man of steel blew the backs out of the domestic box office that weekend once word got around.

The biggest things to dislike about BvS right now are wonder woman (but shes not the main dish anyways in this film) and lex. Lex could go a few different ways. I dont know, havent seen the movie yet. I mean, avengers age of ultron had great trailers, and turned out to be okay. It wasnt bad, it was good, but wasnt great. Most post age of ultron opinions on the movie werent very beloved.

If man of steel did almost 240 million domestic, then BvS will probably hit 350 million. At the very least, a lot of people are curious to afflecks batman, which seems solid so far. Man of steel didnt even really have much backlash, and most of it was quelled by sensible human beings telling nerds to calm the fuck down about supes killing zod. Oh, there was the destruction of the city that we argued about for months, that was a stupid fucking thing to argue about.

Damn Bizarro would’ve made so much more sense…

Same here, although I think it’s safe to say it will make a huge profit simply because “dur hur it has all deese characters in it that I recognize!”

Worst case I see happening is that it just doesn’t make the projected amount they are hoping for.

Oh I don’t see the movie not doing well financially. Everybody will likely see it, I just don’t see it getting multiple viewings like Avengers or Star Wars. You’ll get generic dude bro’s going to see it, simply because Batman is in it. But I don’t think critics will enjoy it.

I see it being another dud like MoS was.

I disagree. Bizarro actually would make a little bit of sense, it’s not a terrible way to create the character, and you could kill him off or whatever and it would be fine. Don’t even have to go full Bizarro really. Besides, he deserves to be in a movie.

Doomsday in this, makes zero fucking sense.

honestly, i just want the damn movie to make at least a percentile of sense, period.

BvS will do just fine at the box office whether it sucks or not. Most of the casual movie going audience will feel like this is a movie they’ll have to see. How it will do critically on the other hand is a completely different story.

Superman Returns made over 600 million, never forget!

There’s a couple factors to that. We hadn’t seen a Superman movie in yearsss before it came out aside from Superman Doomsday (which was great) and it was in between the Batman movies and Green Lantern so we were still confident in DCs ability to put out a solid series. We knew better when Man of Steel came out so we were more wary when just rushing to a movie theatre.

Man of steel wasnt a dud, and made over 600 million dollars worldwide, and had an extremely high domestic gross. Its in the top 20 highest comic book movie grosses of all time. I mean, if you think it was a dud because you didnt like the movie, thats fine. I cant argue opinion.

I don’t even think they’ll refer the character to as Doomsday, in current superhero movies sometimes characters are not even given a “codename”, so there’s no need to rant about this, maybe you can call the character any way you want it and doesn’t diminish the chances of seeing the true Doomsday later.

Well to my knowledge doomsday basically got his name from humans who called the aftermath to look like doomsday. So im sure you will get that moment in this movie, but you wont catch superman calling it doomsday throughout the movie.

Why even name it Doomsday though, why cant they just throw in a revived Zod? They have wasted a named character for no good reason.

You gonna pretend that there’s value in Doomsday? The guy has everything you want in a throwaway villain. He’s obviously there to give Superman something to punch and that’s the best use for him.
