Batman: Arkham City thread

Awesome trailer.

I still have a lot of reservations in terms of the choice of locale this game has gone with, though. A lot of what made Arkham Asylum so awesome was the atmosphere, and the enclosed location definitely helped with that.

I’m not sure how easy that’s going to be to emulate in a more open, city environment. I really hope they do their best to stay away from a sandbox formula.

Well the way the story sounds, it’s still enclosed just not inside Arkham Asylum.

The story for Arkham City takes place about one year after the events of Arkham Asylum. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used that notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City. As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to hold inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham’s slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create “Arkham City”. The prisoners are brought into Arkham City and are given free rein, as long as they do not attempt escape. To oversee the city, Sharp hires psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand. Part of the setup for “Arkham City” was contained in plans in a hidden room in Sharp’s office in Arkham Asylum.

The events of the game are set in motion when Two-Face, seeking to gain status among the inmates and other villains outside the city, devises a plan to publicly execute Catwoman. Batman decides for both the safety of Gotham and of his past relationship with Catwoman that he must stop the execution by entering Arkham City himself.

That silver outfit is lame IMO, the Robin outfit should either be colourful or Red like Tim’s from a few years ago.

It’s probably a bad sign that my first thoughts upon seeing that Robin render was that it reminded me of Chris O’Donnell as Robin.

That said, this game has me hyped. As a big fan of voice acting, it makes me really happy that most of the Batman: TAS voice actors are back. I’m especially happy that Richard Moll is back voicing Two-Face, since it was rumored that he wasn’t for the longest time. 'Though, I guess if you have Two-Face’s original voice, then you can’t have Harley Quinn’s. At least Tara Strong’s a great voice actress, so she’ll probably have a performance that’s uncanny.

Dont know about that. He’s making 125,000 and episode on CBS last year, and its probably gone up since then.

Gah! Damn, I fail. I blame Batman and Robin, even though it killed none of the careers associated with it. It certainly killed my attempt at humor, though.

But what most assuredly won’t suck is this game. 'Gotta play Arkham Asylum once again to get myself more hyped for the upcoming release.
