i hope the videos get posted on the net. i stayed up to watch the event (i live in england) but i fell asleep just before the 5 v 5 started.
the guys in the ustream chatroom wouldn’t stop going on about “yeb this, yeb that, yeb would beat daigo”…for some reason anyone who mains gen with above average skill is some sort of god, like he’s bottom tier or something…so i hope the fact that sanford beat him with dan will finally shut those guys up. the dude who was playing as vega (tatsu?) was probably as good if not better than yeb, just his character of choice is THAT bad. i doubt you will ever see justin winning battlefield arcadia with vega.
this is by no means me bashing yeb because he is a very good player and he would wipe the floor with me and most players. it’s cool to see guys repping characters that aren’t the usual main choices (ryu/sagat/akuma)…just there was some real dick riding going on to the point that it annoyed me.

I’m still scratching my head as to why Combofiend went with Abel, not that he’s a terrible character but Combofiend isn’t nor has he ever been known for being proficient with Abel. This is another case of unsolved mysteries…for now.
He probably was just trying to random Cammy out with another random character. Abel has a lot of health so he gets a lot more time to deal with Cammy’s mix ups than say C.Viper…who would have died in 4 moves and has trouble getting in on a solid Cammy. Rog I thought would have been a good choice but if Sanford knew the Rog matchup at all for one match it would have been a free win for Cammy. Especially in a one match situation…you want the person to block the wrong way a bunch of times so you can take that one win. If you’re just throwing at them a solid linear character that they’ve seen in tourneys all the time they’re just going to look to random you the hell out. Which is basically what Sanford was doing with Dan. Utilizing Dan’s moveset just safely enough to get away with wins against people who don’t know what to look for on their wake up against him. Basically if Danford knocked you down…you were getting scraped.
Basically trying to counter crazy mix up oriented character with crazy mix up oriented character with much better health. Which helped to buff Combo’s ability to make mistakes in the match. Yet Sanford was just too strong and took it.
If Joe didn’t do raw Ultra in the middle of the match…it would have been a true shut out. He had to throw it one time I guess since that’s his trademark and it didn’t work. Oh wellz.
Yeah I was wondering the same thing, I know he used to use him back when sf4 first came out but that was back when Blank was the best. 
That makes sense but for sure Sanford has far more Abel xp than Combofiend has Cammy xp.

I’m sure he has plenty of experience with every other character Combo has available to him so…any way he went I personally can’t see it as any better or worse. There are far less high level Abel players than high level Rog players in the US so I dunno. Sanford is simply a ridiculously good player. He lost just sitting next to him really.
That he is. I would be deathly afraid of playing that Dan and Cammy.

I like Empire vs. NorCal too. It might have been a closer fight (maybe a few wins from Nor Cal as opposed to zero) but…I can’t see that being anything but a solid win for Empire too. At least until something different happens with the scene as a whole.
