So I’m popping in to answer a few of these concerns.
First, the quals at AI were moved because after a discussion, having a tournament at AI on a Friday night would seriously hurt Ken’s business. A 16 man bracket on 1 cab is about 3-5 hours, and as we would’ve started at 8, we might have driven away a lot of the main business that comes on Fridays.
Next, qualifiers were to be held at AI because of the popularity of the spot. As AI is known to be the most famous arcade now in the US for SF4, it would’ve been proper to hold qualifiers there also.
The solution then made both qualifiers to be held at Denjin. It is on arcade because we like to support the arcade as a sponsor, and because arcade is better (personal statement), and we just like to support arcades in general. What would be the point of having a fucking ARCADE hold a console qualifier in which people aren’t even putting in quarters to help the business.
VIP tickets are, well VIP tickets. You have a choice to buy them or not, just know that last Bar Fights we had over 250 people (Which is capacity), and just put simply, there needed to be another option this time for crowd control. So the option was this, if you’re not part of the 250 capacity, we’re sorry, but too bad, it doesn’t matter how long you stood in line, you’re going home. OR, you can buy a VIP ticket and guarantee yourself admission. Also notice that aside from already including the fee to participate in the beat a pro event, it includes 2 drink tickets. You’re effectively if anything, paying $5 to have guaranteed admission, and “VIP” treatment.
Bar Fights outside of Street Fighter is for players to come together, eat, drink and have a good time. If you aren’t willing to spend the $25, then get a free ticket, and stand in line early, because that’s the sacrifice you’re making to not pay for the ticket.
take a fee off the top as other arcades do. that would help the business and just having people there helps alot in sales of drinks/snacks in general. and wheres my buck fiddy son!
