I’d really like to see a video of a high level rog taking on mid level guys (like 4-5k bp) and he never uses anything but pokes and the occasional EX to get out of sticky situations.
Hi all, i hope someone can tell me exactly what happened on a final round between me and a similarly skilled Honda.
Both of us were dying, basically last 2-3drops of blood, he had just knocked me down and i had my ultra. Once i was down, he walked towards me (or dash i cant remember), i had in my mind only one thing which is to Ultra (with kkk).
What happened was as soon as i woke up, in a flash, i saw a Focus Cancel (all my blood gone) followed by an Ex-upper and then followed by an Ultra. I killed him on an ultra.
sorry, i’ve played hundreds of Balrog matches, this is the first time it happened. Is it simply called focus cancel into ultra? I think i read something like this but quite amazed it came out.
Is there any point in using bolrog’s smash? when there’s other options like dash low for a knockdown? The only time I would use it is when I use it in an EX for a knockdown off of a c.mp
if you’re talking about that torpedo punch he uses it breaks armor so yeah it’s really good to mix up against guys who are using FA against your rush ins. It also of cousre pushes people into the corner where you want them to be.
if you’re playing against another rog and use an EX version it owns their EX dash punches.
Couldn’t agree more. I’m more of a player who has execution but no strategy whatsoever. I know everything about Balrog and a bunch of combos yet I go back to using his BnB combo and mashing c.lp
anyways, one of the people on my psn list wanted to know how to head butt ultra and didnt get any of the tutorials cause hes more of a practical in your face learning type guy, so anyways since we live in different countries its not like i can show it to him , anyways i made a noobish vid on how to do it on the arcade stick, hopefully he gets it, and yeh my timing sucks, but I’ve never used charge characters before so just wanted to give it a go. oh and I guess I’ll get flamed but hey whatever right :arazz:
Tbh, I’m still having trouble with the Headbutt Into Ultra, I can get It out sometimes, but I just think thats down to luck. And I’ve read though most of this, and some of the other threads, but I can’t seem to find anything to help me ( there probably Is, and someone Is going to moan at me for posting this here, but oh well, I’m new ) So yeah back to the main topic, any advice about timing and that?
Many thanks,
Edit: Also, small favour, can you type It In a way I can understand, so no like, shortened words, not to clued up on that yet.
no worries…this is the best place to ask! at least you didnt make a new thread ^^ i’ll try to shed my 2 cents on this issue…
1.) are you using pad or stick? i just recently switched to stick (pad user all my life) and it is 100x easier and more precise on a stick than on a pad to do headbutt to ultra… the pad directions can be somewhat ambiguous… if you are on pad, what i found helpful is after the headbutt comes out, i move the pad from upback to back (maintaining charge) and WHEN I LAND (NOT AS I LAND…), i press forward, back, forward + PPP… i also do this with stick as it is a habit of mine
2.) are you doing headbutt notation as follows? – downback (2 seconds charge), upback + HP…always gotta keep that back charged…
3.) just remember that there is directional leeway on doing charge ultras… meaning you can go from upback, to downback, to downforward, to downback, & to downfoward + ppp and the ultra will still come out… as long as you have the original back (2 sec), forward, back, forward + PPP, adding up or down to any of these will not affect the ultra… nor will going from an upback to back or downback reset your charge… your charge will maintain as long as the direction is some form of “back”…
go to training mode and turn on input display to see exactly what directional notations you are hitting when you perform ultra… you’ll be surprised… experiment with it and see what works best for you, practice, and roll with it…
Admittedly the stick is a lot better but even still, for 80% of balrogs moves/combos, i was just fine with the 360 d pad. Charge characters can be just fine with a pad.
Even still, sticks are awesome
