Balancing Updates Do Not Save To Hard Drive On Xbox 360

Taken from TestYourMight.com:

**"UPDATE: It seems this is a 360 issue, as PS3 updates still work.

As you may know, one of the most promoted features of MK9 was the balancing on the fly, without patches. For the most part, this has worked, as there have been changes in the past few days such as infinite removal and some move property changes.

However, there is one kink in this, and it’s not exactly a tiny one. The updates DO NOT save to your hard drive. When you are disconnected from XBL/PSN, the updates do not take effect at all. They are all just stored online. This is a problem for when these updates bring in important changes.

Check the video below for a demonstration of this problem.

This is very obviously going to be a major, MAJOR issue for tournaments, being that unless every console is connected to Xbox Live (which is practically never) the 360 setups will remain un-patched entirely.

Dammit, Nether Realms :nono:

WHy would a tournament use a 360 in the first place? considering the 360 requires controllers to have microsoft certified chips, where as the ps3 accepts pretty much anything usb.

Not all tournament organizers have a choice. Sometimes 360 is the only option.

um, go SRK search converters. That isnt an issue anymore. and some areas prefer 360 over PS3 (like here in Columbus)

oh and fyi NRS knows about this. so expect a fix asap

You mean like the netcode? Which they’ve said absolutely nothing about?

didnt say anything about the netcode. im talking about the updates not saving to the hdd

Where did you read that Tim?

My point is that NRS must know that their big release game’s netcode is universally panned and considered bad, so should we expect a fix for it? Or even a revamp? Boon was hyping up the netcode and KotH mode hardcore, and neither is worth a damn.

I REALLY want MK to do well. I had a ton of fun as a 12 year old playing MK in the arcades, and would love to see another franchise (and a American one to boot) do well, but without them doing something about the netcode this game is going to be on life support by the middle of summer.

edit: keeping this on topic, I hope this fix comes fast to the Xbox. As the netcode is complete trash, my only hope of getting this game into my local scene will involve bringing my entire Xbox setup to meetups where no internet is available.

They know about the issues and complaints about the netcode. i just wasnt referring to anything but the issue with the updated not saving on 360 HDD’s.

gdlk netcode or not, i’d hope you’d do this regardless. MK9 will have a very very good offline scene. so do it.
