His HK donkey kick won’t stay positive on block in SFxTK for sure, Capcom seem to nerf anything that can lock players down. Anything else is going to make him boring.

it shouldn’t be like that, When rufus dive kick hits you in your character’s foot or lower and you block it, Rufus should have a small advantage, and by small advantage I clearly don’t mean +6 like it currently is.
I use asuka, and whenever Rufus dive kicks a little too high and I block it, I can easily punish with her Jab into her BnB. I’ts just a matter of spacing. Maybe asuka can do it because her jab is only 3 frames startup and I’m sure most of the cast doesn’t have such a fast move to punish, but I believe that the nerf is just too much.

Rufus’ nerf on the other hand was far more meaningful - and sadly, raping his dive kick might be the best for the overall balance. I just wonder why the had to nerf it so badly, -10 frames of blockstun, holy shit.
He doesn’t excel in anything but he’s good at everything. Probably too good.

I agree about Juri. To me it’s more about why they picked her. People were complaining week one I guess
they made her less scrubby. Dive kick was free get in if used correctly, even offline and was very frustrating… it had such good priority I would get punished for trying to AA it in mirrors… I’m totally cool with this. Same with pinwheel I’m used to getting my arse handed to me like that from AE.
Juri had it too good, she’s still a beast. No sweat. Now shitty players won’t use her as easily.
She still has the c.HP of doom, so it’s all good.
Divekicks need to just leave all FGs via the nearest exit and never return.

He needs nerfs for his gimmicks and practicality buffs. He has some really annoying elements but he’s also very free to the right kind of play style.

You shouldn’t pinwheel on block anyways, it was always punishable, but now it’s a bit easier.
Her dive kick is still safe as hell, but now it’s not a free approach and you actually have to aim it correctly (hit the shins like with any other dive kick).

capcom is very know to stealth nerf and stealth buff because they want players to explore
He’s not a master of it, no one is, but the synergy he creates with most characters is solid and effective, such that it seems weird to even try to say he’s lacking in that area like its a mark against him. EX Shoryuken, Collarbone breaker and suplex punch all generate enough block/hit stun for great switch cancel follow ups, any tag-in situation that allows him to do a combo into EX Donkey Kick can result in huge damage and set up easy-retag combos because he has several powerful follow up options that result in further tag opportunities.
I’ve seen teams with Ryu spend 3 bars in one combo and almost generate a 4th over the course of it. He teams very well with pretty much everyone in the cast.
I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but I legitimately can’t imagine someone seeing some of the combos I’ve Ryu pull off with random team mates and say he doesn’t have some of the most versatile synergy in the game.
This isn’t a “Ryu is master of everything!!” argument, the problem is that he’s very effective as well as versatile, such that you almost always feel disadvantaged against teams that use him. The issue is that he can do pretty much everything barring character specific special moves (such a teleports, command grabs, etc) and do it as well as, if not better than, a lot of the cast. I’ve got no problem with him being good at a lot of things, but the issue I have is that he can do a lot of things better than other characters who are more specialized – which makes no sense.

Ryu’s supposed to be average, and his effectiveness is supposed to come from the fact he can do everything and as such, you can switch your game up on people constantly and outplay the. Right now, though, he’ll out jab you in your face, lock you down with frame traps and punish you for being too close. If you go long distance, he’ll out projectile you and punish you for trying to jump in. His speed makes his mid range / footsie game solid enough to make you second guess it and paired with his sweep (which is not only tied for fastest in the game, is CADC’able), he can goad you into allowing him optimal range to cross you up rather easily.
He’s just a bit too comfortable in all positions on the field.
I think is more b/c they do not want players to bitch.
