Bad habits Guile players are guilty of

I tend to follow boom and eat shoryuken

scr.hk (sweep)
ultra on wake up
lp boom into forward fierce punch
NOT BEING ABLE TO LINK COMBO’S :stuck_out_tongue:

sometimes i just plain suck.

Not checking my meter to see if i have enoguh to dash cancel a flashkick incase it gets blocked on wakeup

My main mistake right now is not practicing links enough. I feel like my strategy is good but my execution is sloppy. I win by a lot of 1-3 hit combo’s.

getting a level 2/3 focus attack and going for cr mp/st fp xx FK instead of an ultra…

aha all guile needs is a 3 hit combos

j rh ~ cr. mp xxx FK

and c.r jab ~ cr.mp xx FK

hhaha

we have enough flash in our booms and kicks to not need flash in 4+ hit combos. LOL

(get it? huh huh?)

ok… il stop

…using ex booms vs Sagat the Fagat and not saving meter to ex flash his jump medium punch.

…using ex booms vs Gief and not saving meter to ex flash myself a safe distance outside his cross ups.

…using ex booms vs Abel and Chun Li at full screen instead of light punch booms and eating an ultra( I blame this on over confidence)

Thinking his ultra could be useful at least for some chip damage to end the fight. Nope.

It couldn’t have been at completely full screen if Chun’s ultra was able to get you. I always see it fall a little short before I’m able to block the rest.

I chuckled as I read this thread, because it felt good knowing that I am not alone in battling such horrible habits!

  1. Cr. HK Abuse:…don’t even know where to begin with this one, I guess it’s because I also try to link it with a boom. I tried switching over to a medium kick…but my SFII days paint a different picture.
  1. Early Cr. M. P into Flash Kick Whiff: So annoying! Just when you think it’s the perfect punishment, you hit them too early as they come down, and you completely miss the flash kick! Ridiculous. Also happens with the Cr. F.P into Flash Kick…

3.Impulse Flash Kicks: Not necessarily all bad, but I really don’t like leaving it up to chance…

Focus Cancelling A Flash Kick Even If It Lands: Happens too much now, I got accustomed to cancelling it even f it lands, just in case if it would have missed…something I really need to end.

Not Enough S. Fierce: Seriously need to get this more into my game: it’s such a great move.

c.hp can’t combo; you mean: s.hp > fk

Alternative? You fk, they block, you don’t cancel, you eat hurt. Obviously, you should only cancel a ground-based fk.

I mainly suffer from too much sobat (this might prove to be an Achilles Heel for me one day), bad meter management in terms of EX Booms, and getting caught trying to poke with cr.mk.

Seeing less wakeup Flash Kicks these days though but they still pop up every now and then.

Guilty as charged on impulse flashkick. But I don’t feel to bad about it, Dagger G and Yoshio does it all of the time, so I’m in good company. I also keep forgeting that cr.mk is NOT a good poke anymore. I also do f.FK a little too much, and do backhands. I also don’t utilize s.FP too much in my matches. As I’ve worked more on my footsies, I’ve gotten better at hitting these pokes, but life would be easier if I threw out s.FP more often.

my really bad habits are as follows:-

i) i myself never use cr.hk, but -always- get nailed by one in a mirror match
ii) not FA-dashing enough
iii) always going into the c lp, c lp, mp, sb block string even after landing a jumping hk which should have been followed with the bnb

i have no weaknesses. i am gods gift to streetfighter.

rise from your grave:

repeatedly getting hit with meaty crossups because I’m convinced that I can still c.fp them even though its way too late and I should just block.

Sweep -> Flash Kick.

Not using cr. Fierce enough as anti air. I almost always forget its an option. I think its because I normally play Vega, and am not used to playing a character with a go-to anti-air button.

You mean a bit like Vega’s st.rh?
