True, I’ve been getting F’d in the A lately by doing this most of the time. Blocking/teching the majority of your wake ups seems to be better for the most part.
Nah, I love mashing qcb+lp+mp or qcb+mp+hp on wake-up occasionally. They have to be throwing you exactly at that moment for you to get hurt.
El Fuerte often needs to gamble to win…
It all depends on what your opponent is/has been doing. I play this solid ryu all the time and he is able to keep my wake up options limited by mixing up his wake up games. He’s not the standard jump in cross up ryu, but he’ll do one of 3 things usually…walk up throw, walk up ex hurricane, or just wait and see what I do then react with either jump away if I EX run back or sweep/low forward into combo if I EX guac. EX guacing option 1, I usually eat the sweep and it starts over. So 2 out of 3, EX back run is no good, and 2 out of 3 EX guac is no good. He has been able totally shut down my wake up game, so I’m left to block/tech. Back dash is also very useful on non jump ins, but don’t over use it against a smart opponent.
Of course, if you’re opponent is trying to tic or jumping towards you on wake up a lot, then EX back run and guac are recommended.
I get too fancy. I do things like tortillaing over fireballs at full screen just for lulz. Also I neutral jump a little too much.
Wakeup Guac probably cost me more matches than any. I’m so excited to escape that I won’t notice an Akuma taking a step or two back on wakeup, or remember a certain Ken can kara throw.
Also, I have a super bad habit of attacking somebody in focus. Even if I’m out of range, my finger just gets itchy and run-slide them >____<. It’s something I cannot stop, and laugh every time I do it. Why attack at all, and why is it ALWAYS a slide? I don’t know, but it’s pretty costly.
Same with Cammy’s hooligan roll… It’s almost too easy to punish, that I feel compelled to stand up and block; thus getting thrown.
Running back and forth, forgetting about Negative Edge and running into dumb shit. Ran straight into a Ryu one time by mistake: Shoryu xx FADC Ultra…NOO WAAAAAYY!!!
Where is negative edge used for El Fuerte?
My habits include wall jumping Tostadas, regular dashing then attacking from a full screen, and overestimating my wall jump attack distances.
i eat soo much stupid shit because of this. for some reason i always want to try and use EVERY mix up i have in two rounds when i can get by with just 2 or 3
i think what he means by negative edging, and this is a bad habit that happens to me alot:
use jab to stop a run (like if you see a fireball or tatsu heading your way), but accidently hold it a little too long, so when you move your stick to back to block, and the fact that you held jab a little too long
releasing the jab + moving stick to block = accidental run backwards input
it happens to me alot, im like wtf i stopped my run, why is he running again?
Had a lot of issues with that before I swapped out my buttons from the stock Madcatz to Sanwa on my SE. Haven’t had it as much since (but still do…). I still can’t get myself to charge a quesadilla bomb comfortably ever, I almost want to use more fingers on the buttons so that I can.
My issues are using Tostada too much, Tortilla too little, throwing when I can RSF, and not being consistent with RSF in general. Also, I’m bad on wakeup.
But my biggest mistake with Fuerte is that I let people pressure me into a corner. I have friends that play Rufus, Dictator, and Rose and I get bullied into the corner way too much, and by the time I get out I’ve pretty much lost the round unless they do something punishable by ultra. Still working on this though.
Holding a Kick button for Q-bomb, then changing your mind and Negative-edging a Guac
wakeup quesadilla bomb when opponent has ultra
overestimating ken/ryu/sagat/akuma scrubs
i never get tired of those delicious shoryukens
-
Relying too much on GUAC and TORTILLA as AA in every situation, and i know sometimes i must cr.fp
-
Cross-Up tostada Slash from a distance or from run back. i trick people with this alot, but i get cought in SRKs being predictable.
- trying to psychic guac too much
- splashing to much then getting FA crumpled
- continuing to rushdown even though i have a huge life lead then eating a ultra…: (
Man, 1 and 3 are SO me :wow: I can’t help it, I enjoy being psychic even though I fail a lot… one solution I tried to do to help in this is to use lk guac more often, because its much safer, but still can be punished at certain ranges. As for #3, I just tend to get caught up with my rushdown and enjoy it so much till I eat that Ultra… solution, baiting all the way, though its much easier said than done T_T
As for #2, I used to have it as a major flaw, but now I am getting a bit better at controlling my splashes, sometimes patience really pays off as you observe the other guy and catch him off gaurd with a perfectly timed splash (especially if the guy likes to jump a lot, I do the wall jump and splash to knock him down).
But we have to keep in mind that Fuerte is a very risky character, his safe options are very limited, so its okay to rely on psychic powers once in a while… right?
trying to wake up grab too often, leads to me getting punished for being too close.
also doing tostada press off the wall too much
Are you getting Shoryuken’d or Focus Attacked? If so, I would toss in Fajita Busters and do short walls jumps so you can run in an punish.
I get shoryukened after I rush in on wake up, off wall it’s my press gets blocked and I get sweeped.
