Back-Seat Tournament Players!?

If the player wants it I don’t see a problem with it.

Yea it kind of ruins the 1v1. it becomes 1v5.

A quick moment for advice between matches is alright. kind of coaching can become annoying, however.

This was honestly how it felt when I had my opponent do it at a tournament. He didn’t know how to deal with the Vega matchup? tough shit, shoulda done his homework first.
To be honest, it wasn’t even the whole “2 minds are better than one” crap that annoyed me. It’s just hearing him coach throughout the entire round almost put me off my game because SHUT THE FUCK UP WHEN I’M PLAYING!

I don’t mind the crowd and all that because it’s always incoherent anyway since it’s amongst themselves, but that time just ground my gears because having someone dead next to you doing it, seriously can make you lose your concentration.

Between matches is fine, like say, after a KO, I were doing something stupid like wakeup scarlet terrors. If someone just basically went “Stop doing wakeup ST.” and that’s all, that’s fine. I don’t care about that. But right the way through a match is pissing annoying.
Save the coaching on where they’re completely fucking up for after the match. Must admit though there’s something satisfying about still kicking their ass after all the advice they’re being given.

hahaha and djwheat cant understand why people in the fighting game scene were reluctant to become involved with “pro gaming”

If you’re playing teams, I don’t see the problem.

It doesn’t bother me at all on either side. I still play my game. For instance: if I wasn’t nervous on stream, you bet I’d be anti airing or ultra to punish X. So if for some reason my execution is off, I will completely disregard said advice and just play my own game. Last tournament at PF, Kyriptic gave me some awesome matchup advice before the set even began. I will say that if it were mid match I don’t think it would have helped as much, especially if they opponent had heard.

If noise (your coach’s or his hah) bothers you while playing, get some headphones to drown it out.

I actually don’t mind people taking time at the character select or even at the rematch menu. Collect yourself, get a few helpful words, whatever.

And what do you think about it, Andersen?

I’m against it on both perspectives, it’s rude. It bothers me more when someone try’s to give me advice during my matches.

Fully prepare yourself before the start of your match! You shouldn’t need help during your match… it isn’t fair to the other player.

Coaching is only good when it’s drunken crowd coaching:

RICKYYYY HE GOT DA MEATHOOK

I think it’s poor form. Do your research, learn how to play the matchup/game/wtf-ever, before you come to a tournament.

This goes extra if you’re supposedly the ‘best player in the country’ in pretty much any game. Some of the basic principles that bring you success in one game can easily be applied to any other, so even if something’s not your main game, act like you know what you’re doing.

I pw5PcSYza0U]experienced some of this . I didn’t so much mind the non-game related comments, but when you’re standing there telling someone how to use their attacks and pointing out things that might’ve gone missed, then yes, it does turn into a 1-on-X match and goes against the core idea of a tournament.

i think its fine when its not during a match. in between opponents or tourneys is fine
