I have just packed up the castors and will post them off tomorrow morning (specia delivery). Let me know if you think they are upto the job or not as I dont have much knowledge when it comes to these.
Also please could you email (by 6pm) or text me (anytime) your other details so I can sort out the money for you tomorrow aswell
Heres a link to the final set of drawings for the frame. Its too big to post here and let me know if you need anything else.
Yeah, but honestly I’d rather the majority of the weight be on the bottom anyway. But if he can order the correct size, even better.
I’m probably about 35% done with my build. It’s coming along really slowly lol. If I have any questions I won’t hesitate to PM you, though. Your build is looking very very nice.
One thing I’m doing different on mine is I’m using all happs parts. I’ll probably have the only happs Vewlix cab on earth lol.
Your right about the weight. My cabinet stands fine as it is without the frame but I would definately want one to make it easy to move around if need be. Cant wait to receive the frame!
I would be very interested to see your worklog, it is always intruiging to see how other people build. Are you building the cabinet out of wood or metal?
Happ parts…I am currently building 2 happ custom sticks and I have wired them up and tested them and I cant (for the life of me) use a happ stick. Me and happ dont get along, lol. I guess if its something you are use to then you would probably say the same thing about Japanese parts. It will be very interesting to see your cabinet with happ parts and your right it will DEFINATELY be the only one of earth.
I have Happ on my cab, as a rule I cannot stand them and always use Sanwa/Seimitsu sticks on my custom stick builds, but as the cab was for me, friends, my kids and so on they needed to be able to withstand a serious bollockin’ (the kids hang off 'em FFS!) and after much research the Happ competitions were the way to go. I see them more as a commercial long lasting choice, but feel they lack the finesse of the Sanwa/Seimitsu option.
Lol@ kids hanging off them. To be honest when my nephews visit they do the same thing, I dont know what it is. I must have come home from work one day and caught one of them grabbing both sticks (yes player 1 side and player 2 side) and shaking the living life out of it. This is cabinet im working on aswell so you can imagine my shock.
I havent worked with Happ parts for a long time now as I dont get many requests but is it me or have they changed the quality of them? I am pretty sure they used to be alot higher quality a while back.
I’m using wood, except for the base. I’ve cut about 85% of all of the wood. The bottom box is built. I made one recessed door for it and put a hidden hinge on it so it looks flush from the front. I’ve made the sides and control panel, except I haven’t yet cut the holes for the buttons and joysticks on the control panel yet. The only real piece I need to actually cut is the curved top piece. I wooden dowels on everything, too… so no visible screws! lol
As far as Happs goes, it’s just what I grew up using. Also I’m a big MvC2 player so there’s that too. Happs quality isn’t really different, though. I frequent BYOAC and we have a guy there, RandyT, that is the owner of GroovyGameGear, and he’s spoke in detail about the “new” happs compared to the old and compared to iL and we’ve all concluded that Happs is just as good as it used to be. They don’t use Cherry switches anymore, but the microswitches they do use are just as good, imo. I’ll try and find a link if anyone is interested.
One thing that is awesome is I befriended the guy at Dragonjoystick.com and he made me a bunch of custom colored all-aircraft-aluminum joystick shafts for happs. They are going to look fucking nice on this cab, imo:
I may start up a build thread sooner than I thought. It may actually entice me to finish this damn thing. Still waiting to see your finished cab… so far it looks like the best custom around.
Holy crap those look nice. I was jealous that Toggleme was making aluminum LB-30Ns but nothing for Happ sticks. But thanks to you I’m not anymore haha. Those would look great on my SFAC. Its a little bit on the pricey side, but what can you expect when using aircraft aluminum.
Im still here slaving away as usual. Doomy has pretty much finished the frame and is about to send it off to me. So as soon as I get my hands on it I will be able to finish this thing off. The thought of playing it before its completed hasnt even come to mind, probably because the control panel needs to be wired up.
