I played a number of rounds with some amazing modok online today. Like, it was clear how much more time he put into the game than me immediately. He still beat me much more than I beat him, but I was still able to beat him a few rounds because my team is comprised of characters that are insanely powerful. When I can randomly beam super and notice that I caught an assists, and just xfc and beam super again to kill two characters, it is just too easy.
IMO, there are a few insanely powerful things in SSF4, but nothing comes close to X factor. But that doesn’t change my feelings that the game is still fun. It just makes me find the game difficult to take seriously. I will keep playing it for fun, but I am just not going to invest the time to really try and be a top competitor. I think all that hard work gets flushed away too easily by game mechanics. Also, I welcome the Yuns. Dudley has that match I think.
Also, I didnt get to watch final round this weekend.
Sabre: I couldn’t get into your lobby last night. Thanks for the invite though. I would really like to play again. I am still using the same team but I have Cap on point with Chris as backup and Spencer as anchor. I have been practicing my crap/combos/set ups, so hopefully next time we play I wont just waste your time hahah.
I have been trying to implement that Captain America H.Shield Slash loop into my game play - I have found that it is not nearly as powerful/silly as people were making it out to be. For the most part it just adds a nice little loop that you can toss into your bag-o-tricks, but it is not the go-to combo in my opinion. I am not too sure, but I think that if you miss the timing and go for the H.SS early, you get standing H which combos into S or Charging Star->Hyper Charging Star. If you botch it tough, you just get standing H and it whiffs. I assume you can get completely raped in that case.
Also, Bionic Arm is sweeeeet. It really is the new Falcon Punch.
Jorge, cap infinite is really good. Sure you can kill with. a faster, beefier combo. But the reason you do infinite is to gain a lot of meter, granted opponent gets a lot too no matter what. It basically guarantees death and lots of meter to spare.
I kinda figured you couldn’t join. Online functionality is so broken.
Sabre, it is good because I have Cap on point, so he can rush down and beat some ass and hopefully get some meter with the shield loops and make meter for the BIONIC ARM!
Anyone else suspicious of Jills Machine Gun hyper? It really seems like there must be something severely broken about it for Capcom to limit the damage so badly. I realize it has alot of invincibility, which can stop pressure momentarily, but that really doesn’t seem to make up for it’s crap damage at the cost of the meter… Hmm…
I don’t really get the questions? Sounds like you might be thinking of her ‘Mad Beast’ hyper, which is the status buff hyper. The hyper I’m talking about is just the one where she jumps forward and shoots her guns.
it does crap damage cuz the bullets go in all directions. if each shot did more damage, people would eventually find ways/tricks to make more shots connect, resulting in too much damage. the number of shots depends on your character and the opponents character placement.
Jill’s machine gun hyper is best after her somersault. Here’s a basic combo:
:l::h:,:qcf:+:m:,:h:,:qcf:+:atk::atk:
You can get more damage out of it by doing feral cancel combos but you get the idea.
**Hey guys I did some testing on the streaming pc and I guess we will need the HdFury. We will go with the HDfury2 Basic Kit for 179$.
I got lots of txts from lots of people about donating to get it so hit me up guys and if u can bring the money with u this Saturday when we have the gathering if u don’t mind and hey if any of u can’t donate it’s not a BIG DEAL at all. Again it’s not a must do as I said i can get it all my self but it will take me some time but will b better if we can get it in a week or so. hit me up and lemme know if we can make this happen as soon as possible**
^Yeah, after some experimentation, looks like at the right angles, the hyper does almost the same damage as Deadpool’s gun hyper, which isn’t bad. You just can’t xfactor cancel it :/.
Also, with the combo you mentioned, you can end it with :dp::atk::atk: for more damage, and an unrecoverable knockdown. I guess the tradeoff is the invincibility, which I guess could be worth a meter to somewhat safely get out of some unblockable situations.
All in all, the hyper is not as useless as it first seemed, I suppose.
Online makes me raaaaage. I see and predict all the unsafe shit they do and read all their patterns, but I can’t punish it properly due to lag. So it doesn’t give them any incentive to stop doing stupid shit, and then I get caught by something random and lose to hyper armor.
As much as it feels like there’s a lot of random BS going on in marvel; it still feels like the better player will come out on top (after a set, not a single game). I just feel more and more comfortable with the direction this game is going the more I watch the tournament streams. Players like justin wong are consistently winning or placing well with random teams (I use the term random loosely).
However, because of the crazy amount of bs that can happen in mvc3, I think it’s extra important to adapt and pick up on the other players habits rather than go in guns blazing. It’s a strange game of who has the trickiest gimmick, and then once that is broken down… who can dissect the other first. Surprisingly fun.
